bradael
http://bleacherrepor...tm_campaign=nflWow... Saints lead the league with a 1.6! Almost twice the league average of 0.84! Congrats Saints! That is how you dominate! They should have done a study on whether or not those should have been called. The Saints disputed a ton of roughing penalties this past year with the league office. One of those flags in particular, that the article makes a big statement about, was a bad call. Quddus's hit on Nicks. That play resulted in a flag. But the league reviewed it, and no fine was given, because it was a clean hit. Quddus hit Nicks in the chest with his shoulder. Here's your real stats on violence:3 years. 18 injuries to offensive players. 1 flag (Quddus), 0 fines.Falcons: 3 years, 29 injuries to offensive players. 2 flags. 2 fines (60k total). After the second fine (40k), Mike Smith said "That's the way we teach it."
st. diehard
The scheme they employed of blitzing more than 50% of the time would've generated these stats, dirty or not. As it is, they're not hugely different than the league averages and in some cases, curiously less than the average.Certainly not the smoking gun the writer implies.
