Flying Falcon
Texans trade LB Ryans to EaglesFOXSports.com learned, according to a source close to the negotiations, that Houston agreed to terms of a deal that will send two-time Pro Bowl selection DeMeco Ryans to the Eagles for a mid-round draft choice. The teams later announced the deal was for a fourth-round draft pick in 2012, The Associated Press reported. The Eagles and Texans also swapped third-round choices in 2012. The Eagles now have the 89th pick overall, while the Texans have the 77th pick.Ryans will provide an immediate upgrade at middle linebacker for the Eagles. Ryans, 27, has averaged 106 tackles in his six NFL seasons with the Texans and is regarded as one of the best at his position.''DeMeco is a proven Pro Bowl linebacker in this league and we're excited to be able to plug him into the middle of our defense,'' Eagles coach Andy Reid said in the AP report. ''He's been the signal caller and a leader on a very good Texans defense for the last several years. He's a tough, instinctive football player and he'll be a great fit for our team.''http://msn.foxsports...und-pick-032012For a 4th round pick? That's it? I know we dont have a 4th, but dang an ALL Pro LB for a 4th round pick. Edited March 21, 2012 by Flying Falcon
FalconinPA
The Eagles needed him more I guess. Maybe our FO didn't see a need for him.
falconmaniac
I was thinking the same thing when I watched this on sports center this morning. That was a good trade for the Eaglets.
Butudontseeme™
Iggles with the steal! Dang they have some luck! My guess is the texans were trying to make cap space and they already have an outstanding group of backers.

FalconinPA
But he could have been a great addition if Tatupa dont pan out.Yeah, I would rather have him than Tatupa anyday. But no need to cry over spill milk. We normally don't make trades for impact players anyway.

FalconinPA
I wonder why the bucs didn't make a play for that dude?I am glad that they didn't. Don't need the Bucs to keep making good pick-ups. They might actually make things harder on us next year.
muskokas finest ©
The switch of 3rd round picks is the equivalent of the 21st selection in the 4th round, so the cost was more like 2 4th round picks. This team can't surrender any further draft value this year. For the fact that the guy we're drafting in the 3rd will be there anyway, even if we draft a fewer spots below our normal pick.

McMVP
And the Eagles are still Super Bowl-less. I do agree that the Eagles GM and even Saints GM are better than TD though.Yes they are...but they keep trying...Love this offseason. They focused on keeping their nucleus and filled in one area of great need with a good leader that's back in his natural role. Hard to not like this move for the Eagles...makes too much sense

Falcons can't trade anymore draft value. Need those picks to fill gaps in and around the cap-stretching salaries.

ATLBrave
Uhh because Ryans is making a lot of money on that remaining contract, that's why. Not to mention the lack of draft picks, as has already been brought up.
