Knight of God
Now the band is back. I am a little more comfortable defensively at this point with only Lofton missing. I think the defense is NOW much better with Nolan. So we can look forward to upgrading the offensive line...if they are going to do it. kiwifalcon
Signs are KOG that with McNeill coming in for a visit something positive will happen soon I hope they at least get this guy we need it badly.I to am a little more comfortable about Abe being resigned even though I was against keeping him at 34 I guess the lack of the development of Sidbury and Ray's under production last year left the FO no choice.I still think Mike Nolan has a job on his hands upfront though. Technology and conditioning has made these guys better and Abraham could have had a better year but our defense wasn't made to get sacks or really even hurry the QB so much as to drop back in coverage and wait. We'll be better.

paulitik
I'd take McNeil, Anthony Collins, or Demetrius Bell. We get any of those 3, and I'll call this offseason a success, although getting McClure back, or picking up a Center would help. I think our LT/RG/Center situation was dire enough to necessitate an overpaid FA like Nicks or Grubbs. If we get one of those FA LTs, and maybe grab a guard or center with the 2nd or 3rd pick, I'll relax a great deal. jfalconsp
McNeill and Lofton an I'd be confident going into the draft, I think it can be done. Then we can go BPA in round 2, whether it be RB or DT or DE or OG.

Thiccolas Cage
I don't mind Hawley at center as long as we can get a good LT. That way Blalock can focus on the interior rather than help some punk azz scrub to his left.
tobyd77
Nolan and abe reunited! Nolan was abes dc when abe was drafted by the jets in 2000 so he should be looking forward to getting back with him.and for those that didnt know the dline coach ray hamilton was nolans dline coach for the jets in 2000 to that is why when most of you wanted him fired when nolan got here I knew he was staying cause him and nolan have history so this will be a three way reunion between abe nolan and hamilton. I posted those facts before when I said abe was coming back.

Will be 37 next week. I quit playing football about 3 or 4 yrs ago because I needed more time to do other things and was still running a 4.5 at the time. Moss is still running a 4.3 and hasn't had many injuries himself. Then in case Abe should go down we still have Sidbury. To me that's not the worst it could be. It could be Mark Anderson with a side of Sidbury.

Knight of God
Let's wait until he's coached up a bit.I haven't said much here. All of his combine results show a little beast in him and the fact that he supposedly has a meanstreak, that could be good. I hope that Pat Hill is as good as he is said to be. Signing Abe makes me wonder about the draft now. It makes it more intriguing especially with Grimes only getting franchised.
HouseofEuphoria
Re-signing Abe frees us up to increase the snaps of Sid, Beirmann and Cliff Matthews without 'selling the farm' on thier abilities. I like all three players and believe that one or more will step up big time under Nolan with another year of experience under thier belts. I just dont want to trust the entire season to them. Abe, i trust. We just need to limit his snap counts, especially early in the season, and use him as a pass rush specialist instead of a three down lineman like years past. This should make the "we need to keep Abe" fans, and the "we need to go young" guys both happy. We'll be better.I too believe that our scheme limited our sacks as much as anything. Is there something wrong with every DE we played? (minus Abe at times) Or were they not being put in a position to succeed? (my theory, time will tell)

We'll be better.Think this applies to the entire defense as well. Add in the emphasis on stopping the run and you have a D that works well in college but gets eaten alive on 3rd down by NFL QBs.One of the reasons I'm so hopeful about the Nolan hire is because I think TD has been drafting players for a more aggressive scheme and BVG was scheming a conservative game with them.
