Clark Kent™
Not sure if serious? You do realize how big of a hole would be on our D line if we did not resign him? Who is going to generate pressure? Granted, Nolan can probably work some magic, but you can't just go into the season blindly hoping that Nolan will be able to all of the sudden get production from guys who have not produced that well.So what if he is 34 years old? You do realize that pass rushing specialist can be very effective well into their later years? We monitored his snaps last year and we will monitor them this year. He is not going to wear down.I understand the people not wanting to resign him for 10m+ a year because I think that is too much, but for those not wanting him because they question his skills then urine idiot.Pass Rushers with his skillset are not that easy to find. If you have one you keep him. You can never have too many guys who can get after the QB. Look at the Giants/Eagles D lines. Every guy they have can get after the QB Edited March 16, 2012 by Clark Kent
Guest TheIdowu
I just want him to show up more in big games. I cannot deny his impact, though. If he left, then that would have been . . . . . ..With this being said, I am glad we re-signed him. We need him. We need the 2010 Abe, though. The one who sacked Brees and batted his ball in the air and intercepted it.
Atlfanstckndenver
Its simply a matter of us needing him. I just wish we already had his replacement on the roster.....oh well. Yet another year of band aids and super glue for our primary pass rush threat.
X-Man21
I just want consistency, I must say I do feel a little against it because Sid and Biermann may not get the PT they deserve, but the fact that Abe has played both OLB and DE he is in good use of Coach Nolan's Hybrid. And I'm not worried about Sid and Biermanns PT this year. Abe is a year older so he will continue to have limited snaps. Sidbury hasn't really proven enough for the praise that people give him. I too want him to have more snaps, but lets not get carried away, if he was THAT good then they would find a way to get him on the field. Atleast on the field more than Biermann. putnam6
Predator 2 He's back in town with a few days to kill,Glad he is back and not a 12 million per.Wouldn't be surprised if he has one of his best years with Nolanhere.
UK13
I don't have a problem with resigning him , I just want him to come and play against good teams not just against Jax or teams of that caliber and it's not like he's dependable ( ouch my groin hurts ) I can't play today ....give me 10 mill for this season
paulitik
I understand the logic of letting him go. He's on the downslide of his career. He could easily crash. We shouldn't expect double digit sacks by the end of this contract. But it is a good opportunity to give more reps to Sidbury and Biermann and find out if these are the guys of the future, and still have a dominant pass-rusher like Abe in the rotation.Signing a Mario Williams, or other top DE, might have stalled the production of Sid, Biermann, and Matthews. So I can see why keeping him is the logical choice. I'm just glad we still have an elite pass-rusher for another year, and Abe retires a Falcon. I'm cool with it. Now TD needs to find us a LT. Club212
Glad he's back, IF he didn't want to be here, he'd left. He smells blood in the water & is ready for the kill....see you in NOLA in Feb!
Guest Fibonacci
Oh i agree highly i want him to resign asap. The re-signing today seems like it is going to stick having around a 34 year old who already has knees and groin issues and misses out in plays because of these issues at week 8. madman88
Hes productive but i think this was more a desperate move more so then just wanting him back... If cthey could get a younger talented pass rusher abe would have been gone last year... Just my opinion on it... Glad he is back, but we still need to look for his replqcement SOON!!! timco
Just being honest, I would rather have had Mincey. Younger, cheaper, etc. I do think Abe can be effective, but he doesn't play near as many snaps anymore and as said before, tends to disappear in big games. A good DE, but I think that even 8 mil a year is too much for him as old as he is.

capologist
It's a bittersweet deal from my end. I'm glad to have Abe's ability on the team but I really wanted to see what Sid could do as a starter...
Herr Doktor
At some point we NEED to see the DE's on the bench get more PT. if they don't pan out, cut bait and let's move along.

Knowing he' s wanted back I expect he and several otherplayers in his situation will be reincarnated into "punch in the mouth" players. Something we've needed of late. vafalconfan
Re-signing Abe was huge. If they keep him on a pitch count and use Nolan's scheme he will be reborn. And I'm glad we don't have to face him on another team..

Billy Pilgrim
John Abraham was absolutely the ONE guy that we could not afford to let get away this offseason.Personally I would have re-signed Abe and Douglas and let everyone else walk.
