Mario moving on from Buffalo?

8:05AM ET

UPDATE: Bills DT Kyle Williams was at the dinner meeting with Mario Williams and members of the Bills' front office and coaching staff, and he was a guest on WGR 550 on Wednesday morning with some details on the encounter, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

Kyle indicated that Mario liked what he heard about the future of the franchise, and seemed to be in agreement with the current Bill that if he signed with them, they'd have the best defensive line in the NFL. The chances of the Bills signing Williams go down if he leaves town without a deal, so they may be making a final pitch this morning before that happens.

The Buffalo Bills had a plan to work aggressively at the start of the free agency period, and they enacted it: Mario Williams and Robert Meachem were brought in for visits on the first day of the free agent signing period, and a report indicated that the Bills were ready to make Williams the NFL's highest-paid defender.

That still might happen, but there's a bit more intrigue first.

Though the Bills wanted to get Williams signed before he left town, he has informed them that he intends to visit other teams, according to what two sources revealed to ESPN's John Clayton.

It remains to be seen who these other teams are -- though the Bears, Falcons, Jaguars, Seahawks and Titans are believed to be amongst his suitors -- whether they're willing to offer Williams as rich of a deal as the Bills reportedly are and whether the financial aspects will outweigh other considerations.

it's all about the money. He will leave Buffalo and his agent will start calling around with the demands to match that deal. Nobody will bite, and he will suffer up in that dreaded town for 5-7 years.

I would rather live in a nice city with $80M than live in BUF with $100M. You will never see the difference between $80 and $100M, but you will surely notice the difference in the city you live in.
