J-Wall
He was on Mike and Mike and said we aren't in the running. Also said he would command $15mil a year. Ill pass on that.

paulitik
Yeah, heard that. But consdering we haven't cut anyone, and that he's assuming we pay Grimes $10 million, I think we'll free up some space by 4 pm. I don't buy the idea that we are just going to sit through FA and sit pat with what we have. We will make some type of splash.

Flying Falcon
Sorry Gritz, but we dont. We need a very good DT that can collapse the pocket. We dont need him, unless he plays DT too.
paulitik
I don't understand why people think it's completely unrealistc for us to get Mario, yet it's somehow realistic for the Media to think that the most likely scenario is that the Bears will have 2 $100 million DEs on the same line.Makes no sense to me. We dont need him, unless he plays DT too.If we lose Abe, we are going to have a huge hole at DE. It's wishful thinking to think that Sid, Ray, or Kroy can replace a double digit sack player. It would be irresponisble to let Abe walk and not replace him.Nolan is a great coach, but he's not the only solution to our pass rush issues. That would knock us out. But I don't see that happening as getting Williams only helps Grimes and he knows that and wouldn't sign the tender if that meant no Williams. Plus, the Bears need help on offense. I see Nicks, Colston, Wallace, and Jackson in line for Chicago before Williams. Like you said, $100MM+ for 2 players isn't smart for them. If we don't address this then we not in Super Bowl contention, but rather in a mini-rebuilding phase.
Flying Falcon
I dont know. I truly believ that our DEs will do just fine, even without Abe. He really didnt do too much last year for me. Yeah, racked up some QB sacks against some inferior OLs, but disappeared whenever it matter. ~shrug shoulders~Abe would be nice to have back, but I truly doesnt feel that he's necessary. I think we should give the young'ns a chance. Right now, I think we should be in the "Rebuilding Mode" for this year.

1989Fan
I still expect TD to pass on Mario and sign Abe back when he doesnt get his demands in the open market.TD kicked the tires on Peppers and Haynesworth as well, but backed out as soon as he heard what teams were looking to pay. This will be no different. Mario isnt going to go or less than Peppers and Haynesworth did.

Like you said, $100MM+ for 2 players isn't smart for them.I'lll be honest, I'm going to be seriously disappointed if Brent Grimes is the reason we didn't go for Mario. Just the possibility of paying him $10 million is not smart, especially if we are letting Abe walk. I really hope that we franchised Brent knowing that we were giving him a new contract eventually. If we go into the 2012 season and haven't addressed the passrush, I'm really going to start questioning TD. THE ICEMAN
Disagree. We do need him.We just apparently can't afford him.Life goes on. I also agreed we need him very badly because were likley to lose Lofton and Abraham if those two come back next year then no its not that be of a deal but it doesn't appear that way

youngbloodz
I hope they have a back up plan. Because no Mario and Abe wanting $12 mil not looking good for our pass rush. Oh well. And Peyton didn't you say Mario will sign for a lot less than $15 mil. You didn't even think he would sign for $13 mil
Zodiac
So we're going into FA with a net loss rather than a net gain. At this point we should've just given Lofton what he wanted. The Falcons are turning into the Braves, flirt with you all the time about getting a big name but then just settle for rent-a-players

Zodiac said this opinion makes me look stupid. Is G-Dawg going to now call Adam Shefter a moron and is Zodiac going to now call Adam Shefter stupid?
