FalconsManhood
A "number of NFL sources" tell CSN Chicago that the Bears are considered around the league to be the favorites for free agent Mario Williams as Tuesday's 4PM ET signing period approaches. The Bears are all systems go in free agency, and Williams would form the NFL's most dominant bookend duo in the league across from Julius Peppers. Ultimately, Chicago may choose between Williams and free agent wideout Vincent Jackson. It sounds like Williams is coach Lovie Smith's priority, and new GM Phil Emery's old team in Kansas City rarely spent big on wide receivers. While the Chargers, Patriots, and Titans have been linked to Williams as well, the Bears may be positioned best to land him. We should find out by midweek.Source: CSN Chicago Mar 12 - 7:49 PMhttp://rotoworld.com/headlines/nfl/229549/report-bears-are-favorite-for-mario-williamsIt's not looking good for ATL in the Mario Williams Sweepstakes. crucifixz
lol....atlanta isn't even linked to trying to get Williams.....so what is really going on here
FalconsManhood
Bears GM is head and shoulders above TD. They have a premier defense, brought in peppers, brought in Jay Cutler, and still have the cap room to go after a WR and Mario Williams.Meanwhile TD is sitting on his hands and cannot even sign back our own free agents. paulitik
If the Bears can afford to pay Julius Peppers and Mario Williams, we can find a way to pay Mario Williams. I don't see it happening in Chicago. With Tennessee going after Peyton, it definitely helps us. I'm not guaranteeing we get Williams, but I think we have a good shot to. The Texans clearing cap room worries me more than sports writers speculating about the Bears.

It could be complete speculation just like LaConfora and Clayton, no one really knows until tomorrow at this point.
ltstorm2
It would be smart for Chicago to land Mario. They have Peppers on the other side. It would be stupid for us to get Mario because we have (___________________________) on the other side. If we still had Abraham, bringing in Mario would be awesome but since Abraham is likely leaving bringing in Mario would just be giving us what we had. If they want him I doubt we could compete.
Falcon Fanatic
Yeah I have to admit I was wrong about Houston not making a play for Williams. I guess they have bought into all the Mario hype and are looking to retain him. Look for them to make an eleventh hour run and have him a contract signed, sealed, and delivered by 4:00 tomorrow much to the chagrin of the teams in the NFL who still have adequate cap space since we aren't one of them. Guest Gritz
I am not ruling mario williams out just yetYou shouldn't.....because none of us really know what the hard cap numbers are, who's going to be cut in the next couple of days, etc.. Mr. Right
While Falcons need Williams to even think about making it to the playoffs, Williams on the Bears would be fun to watch. Too bad last year we didn't get to seen Nnamdi on the Jets. In the NBA, we also didn't get to see Chris Paul with Kobe. Some lame stuff going on nowadays. Although I guess there's always popcorn with the Falcons spending 15+M on 2 CBs. Name me one Superbowl winning team that had more than 10% of their salary cap tied to two starters at that position. FalconsManhood
I am not ruling mario williams out just yetMe either but with the Texans clearing cap and the Bears rumored to be his favorite spot it does not sound good. But we all saw what happened last year with Aso, so anything could happen. I'm just hoping this team improves next year. It's a make or break year for Mike Smith and Matt Ryan, No more chances after this I think. I guess alot of this had to do with them signing peppers in the uncapped year, they where able to front load his contract. Smart move by a SMART GM

Zodiac
The bears would screw themselves by signing Mario, Jerry Angelo doesn't have a good track record with drafts. if they want Jay Cutler able to function next year they should fix the Oline

They have warm bodies at every other position. They want to go after a bigtime WR as well. ALSO they still have to sign Forte. They are going to have to make some choices just like us before its all said and done.

Their best receiver got folded in half and Hester still plays like a DB playing WR. They should be going after Jackson.
