By the way the Tatuapu signing was awesome. Build the oline that's what would benefit our football team the most. Go get Nicks and Mcneil or Gaither which ever one is available. They have been struggling to find a DE to put consistent pressure on the QB for the better part of a decade now lol. Mario is a sure fire already proven pass rushing talent that is just entering his prime at age 28. He has at least another 4-5 years at being an elite level DE. Ta tofu and manuwi both have legitamate chances to start, so the niks idea is out the window... I can see us going after mcneil for our LT spot and bring mcclure back... We can do that and still go after marioDraft TONY'S replacement two add a two TE attack for one yr.. effectively upgraded both sides... Def is good, and can be great with the emergence our current players under Nolan. I have said this many times, we need to focus on one great thing we do. i don't care if it is offense or defense, but, we need to focus on one and make every effort to change that side of the ball. Look back and think about the Super Bowl champs in recent memory. They all did one thing great. Not every phase, just one great side of the ball can carry you. This offense still finished 6th overall only allowing 26 sacks after giving up 13 the first half of the season so they started to settle down but make no mistake must of the cut down on mistakes was Matt being able to run the offense and they get that this year watch the nohuddle at it's best.We need pressure on the QB guys and that is more important right now. maybe I should remind us who we have to play in 2012 and They just ran this list of QBs down on 680 the fan this morning that really hit me.1.Drew Brees twice and don't think he want be in a saints uniform just because of this tag situation.2.Eli manning3.RG34.Peyton manning or Tebow5.Cam Newton twice remember him he broke peytons rookie record for must yard thrown not to mention a total of 17 Td with must of those ran in for a TD.6.Josh Freeman and yes he regressed in 2011 but I look for a bounce back from him once he gets a true #1 go to guy because Mike Williams is not going to cut it.7.Larry Fitz and the reason why I didn't say Colb is because Larry can catch from anyone and will hurt you even with double teaming him and if we don't get to QB who ever it may be cause Manning just may go there instead of denver or and I forgot to mention that Reggie Wayne may be traveling with him where ever he goes.8.Matt Stafford again and Magatron I don't want to see how that will work with no pass rush.9.phillip Rivers10.Mike Vick11.Tony romo and yes he has made some bone headed passing decisions but win he is on he is on and no pass rush = a Joe Montana performanceNohuddle and running the ball effectively will take care of the o-line problems along with a new scheme.Kroy Biermann and Ray will not take care of that pass rush and you can blitz all you want to just ask NO how that worked out.Some of you will still try and argue the point so be it I'm a Mario supporter and I am not afraid to show it. So wat do you think will happen when we try to go back to throwing deep with the same line???? Point is williams wnt help us with wat we WANT to do offensively, and thats the strength of this team, not defense... JDaveG Posted March 12, 2012 Share Posted March 12, 2012 Something no one seems to be taking into account is the effect of Koetter's offense on the o-line (or, if they're taking it into account, they're assuming his system will improve the o-line, which isn't accurate).What Koetter has described for us is very Martz-like. 4 wide spreads, Coryell system, not much protection. If our o-line is the same this year as last, one of two things happen:1) We scale back the system, which makes the offense less efficient; or2) Ryan gets killed.We HAVE TO upgrade this o-line. Period. We cannot stand pat. This is the single biggest problem on this team and has been since I can remember. If we go into this season with the o-line substantially intact, the offense will regress. In the playoffs, that is not a viable option. MattRyan2Canton Posted March 12, 2012 Share Posted March 12, 2012 our only shot at a franchise left tackle is in sam baker, andrew jackson, garret reynolds. sam was a 3 time all american at left tackle, he's good but now he's injury prone. andrew jackson is the real wild card because we haven't seen him ever but his measurables are comparable to a left tackle, same with levi garret reynolds. hopefully new oline coach new philosphy will inspire some serious blindside protection for matt ryan so we can see that ice.
