Falcon Fanatic
I would only resign him for a two year deal at max.
Romfal
I think Joe Hawley is a cheaper option right now, if we sign Mario we probably wont have a lot to offer McClure unless he comes back cheap

Weakening one area to enhance another and the O line is weak enough in places as it is especially in pass protection.

FA91
I'd like to see him come back for another year. Hawley's going to get his chance but we need someone we can rely on in case he has trouble. Coming off the bench McClure should be able to put some quality touches together.Besides, Romburg's gone and we have to have somebody as backup. It'd be great to see McClure retire as a Falcon. He's been one of my favorites and I don't think he's gotten as much respect as he deserves. Guest Negatorris
No way he will be let go. Bet on it. Plus he won't cost much.
Hashbrown3
McClure stays... we cannot screw with the center position right now... If Hawley is a keeper, we need to know it very soon. Camp will be important for him. if he indeed is the next falcon center, he should be allowed to spell McClure this season. There must be absolute confidence that hawley can fill Todds shoes, if not, we should move on... Wondering what the 2013 class looks like for the Center position... I would love to have a real badazz, smart leader, with good movement skills for pass blocking, adept at calling line plays and picking up blitz packages. And most importantly be able to drive block giant fire-plug space eaters when he needs to. Its a key position bigtime...

root down
my gawd people. McClure was as much a problem as Hawley. He can't win consistently 1-1, his help to the guards is suspect. If we are not running a ZONE blocking scheme, why do we have a Zone blocking Center? B/c of his football savey? his IQ? didn't he give away our snap count to the Cards in the playofffs? How come we can't get inches on a Qb sneak?Maybe the G from Jac can play Center, or blaylock. Can't Ryan make the protection calls, Isn't that one of his strengths, his "intelligence". Snafu
ok.Blalock is one of the better guards in the NFL. He is definitely pro-bowl caliber. McClure has been snubbed his entire career. Edited March 20, 2012 by RubberDucky
isproab
McClure is solid, but nothign to write home about. I actually think when we upgrade the center spot with a player the entire line will get better. Don't bring him back, even if we have to suffer through a season, just cut the cord so we can move on. ltstorm2
Blalock is one of the better guards in the NFL. He is definitely pro-bowl caliber. McClure has been snubbed his entire career.Blalock is good. You can not be a pro bowl quality guard AND be part of atleast a dozen short yardage situations that you don't convert. Just can't. McClure has never been anything more than good. He's just too weak. When was the last time Ryan sneaked a ball and easily fell forward behind his center? I'm not sure if he ever has. I know i'm critizicng them more on their run blocking than pass blocking, even though they are horrible pass blockers also, but since McClure and Blalock both are interrior linemen, I expect them to knock people on their azzes when we're trying to run the ball. As far as I know we're still trying to be a power physical smash mouth run team. Like I said in my post earlier, I am tired of our division rivals having better offensive linemen than we do. Carolina has talent, they have a center that's considered to be the best in the league. Tampa bay might have the best interrior line in the league by far in 2012 and New Orleans still has Evans and they brought in Grubbs to protect Brees. All of our linemen are average at the very best and I don't understand why the F we keep bullshttn with the Oline. Probowl quality my azz. Don't get me wrong - McClure has been a great player for us for over a decade - but it's time to move on.
