Bounty Program Doesn't = Illegal Hits

When they say knock a guy outta the game that doesn't mean illegally it just means knock him out. If he's carted off or can't Finnish then fine as long as it's not go out and grab his ankle and break it in two. But to pay someone outside of the contract is wrong! I know many of you are falcon fans so you need an excuse as to why we beat your team so often but you know aswell as I do it wasn't because of our Defence that we won or win so many games, period. Who dat!

Bounty program does = Suspensions for your coach and GM, loss of draft picks, suspensions of players and the biggest fines allowable.

Bounty program does = poorer Saints team for 2-3 years.

Bounty program does = shame and sadness for good people that happen to be Saints fans.

Bounty doesn't require illegal hits like an escort isn't required to have sex.

Nope. The NFL's case is flimsy at best. This is also why they've released very little evidence and are not even close to issuing a ruling.

500-1500 bucks being paid to players for big hits, ints, & fumble recoveries is all that's been proven... primarily through team admittance. Money that's also coming from the players' own pockets, but being administered by Gregg Williams.

They're going to have to prove intent to injure to come down hard on the Saints. And by that, I mean to issue more than fines on Loomis, Payton, and Williams, with possible suspensions for Williams and/or Payton. No player is getting suspended and no picks are being taken away if all that they have is what's been admitted by the Saints. And good luck proving intent. No Saint will admitt it, even if it were true. And no on-field evidence backs it up. The Saints are one of the least penalized teams, one of the least fined teams, and also cause close to the lowest amount of injuries to offensive players.

And to take it a step further... if they start taking away tons of draft picks & suspending players... then where does it end. Players from practically every team, past and present, have already admitted to doing the same thing.

The 49ers cheated the Salary Cap a number of years ago. The fines were a total of about 500k across the board. They did also lose 2 draft picks over two seasons... a 5th rounder and 3rd rounder. If the NFL wants to make a case that the Saints cheated the salary cap here by what they did... aside from the fact that most, if not all, of the money came from the players' own pockets.... the amount of money in this scenario to cheat the cap was far less than what was involved in the 49ers case. Plus, the 2010 season had no salary cap.

I believe the issue with the 49ers was under the previous commish, so it really isn't relevant. Each commish interprets the bylaws and the penalties for breaking them in their own way.

You're in denial if you think the league isn't coming down on the Saints like a ton of bricks.

Reread the original articles: They said, "after a lengthy investigation" the NFL concluded that "the saints maintained" a bounty program from 09 to 11.

It's not a court of law, they don't have to prove it to anyone except themselves. They've done that.

Only reason sanctions may take a while is because the players association is doing their own investigation- they're going to claim that Williams forced players to participate.

Williams has admitted it, Payton & Loomis have admitted it.

They also lied to the commish.

NFL is incredibly careful with its image, if they had any doubt about this, they would never have gone public.

If this was just the secondary players pooling money for INTs, NFL would never have made the announcement- they don't care about that. What they do care about is players and coaches offering money for injuries.

For once, I agree with you.

Guest Dtan. Man with a Plan

Another unobjective, deluded Saints fan.

You're only setting yourself up for a fall.

Open your eyes.

The NFL is coming at the Saints harder than Grady Jackson bull-rushing a waiter en route to the corn beef hash at Golden Corral.

Golden Corral has waiters? In thought it was a buffet, then again, I have never and will never eat there.

Buffets still need people to dish out the drinks, set the tables, etc...

Aren't the soft drinks self-serve with the plates and utensils at the foot of each buffet line ? The only thing close to a server(waiter) they have are busboys.

I respect your opinion, but considering I own my own restaurant and have been in the business for 20+ years, mine trumps yours.

I haven't been to a Golden Corral in quite some time, but I'm pretty sure waiters bring drinks.

Seriously? Sheltered much?

Yes, I'm obviously sheltered because I have not consumed the crap that this and every other corporate restaurant serves.wacko.png

I wonder how many multiple Michelin star restaurants you have dined in. My guess would be zero, obviously that's because only sheltered people spend $350 on dinner.
