2cent
Abe has been asking for some help since his first year here. We went out and got Edwards who simply did not show up. Now the plan is to match Mario with Edwards??? If Mario produces they will just double him like they did Abe! That’s if he produces. Also I love what I see from Kroy but he is inconsistent and he is the classic case of “always almost there”. Pay Abe! He is able and capable. He was the ONLY defense we have in the Playoff game against the Giants. Matching Mario with Abe sounds like it could work. “its going to be too expensive to do that” DUH! Continue given that excuses while NY shell out the big bucks. They paid Osi and you see where that got them. The same was true of Straham in 07. For those who think Abe is not worth the money please watch last season again I will allow you to login into my Game Rewind. But pay special attention to the last game as he was the same beast as always while being double covered.
Steel City Falcon
You need to watch some Texans games and then compare them to Falcons ones. And not the Falcons games where they beat up on lesser teams like TB and Jax, whene Abe decides to show up and get half his season sacks. JulioisCoolio
He had 3.5 sacks against the Jags in a blowout against a rookie QB. 2 against a piss poor Bears OL and then 4 sacks in 14 games........
SwampyMux12
I've loved Abe since he's been here, but it's hard to watch him and not say that he's lost a step. He used to be a dominant pass rusher game in and game out. Age and some nagging injuries are starting to catch up to him. Plus if we're going to pay him the kind of money he wants, he would need to be more than a situational pass rusher on a "pitch count". Mario Williams is what Abe was in his prime... only bigger, faster and stronger. Now while I'm a bit leary of the size of contract that is in Mario's future and the potential hit to our salary cap, it sounds like a smart contract can definitely be done... Abe has been fantastic for this franchise, but he's not the game in and game out dominator that he used to be... if he would come back at a lower rate to team with Williams, we would have a brutally fantastic pass rush. Tax-Falcon
I'll keep it simple: he won't be on a snap count.Next question.

kiwifalcon
The best game I've seen Abe play was in the 2010 game vs the Browns he gave Joe Thomas fits that game he lined up the whole game vs Thomas and out did him as he got 2 sacks and we won the game 20-10 thats the best I've seen of Abe against a top notch LT unfortunately these performances are to few and far between.I have never disputed Abe's abilities as a pass rusher it is just the frequency in how often they come and at 34 I no his time is done here as a Falcon. He is.
Twoism
With the top-dollar salary Abe is asking for? I don't think so.
Peyton
Mario wouldn't be an upgrade over what Abe has been doing, but Abe is bound to fall of the cliff here soon. So if you were going to give one of them the money, it would be Mario, who at least is young.I don't see the Falcons signing either one of them though. 2cent
For all the numb nuts who went off exsplaining how Mario is better that wasnt the question. My point and question is he will be doubled if he is the only good pass rusher making he erelevant during a game. so if they are both asking for 12million and we will not get the production out of them without matching talent HOW IS IT A GOOD swap. jess you numbnuts are emotional.. spare me please i only request your logic. Swift&Change
Mario Williams would be a upgrade over Abe but Its not A big enough hike in production to warrant what Mario will get in free agency . IF our genius gm can not find a DE in 5 drafts that he had to find a pass rusher that can get 8-12 sacks why is he a genius Let TD draft. DE that can get 8 to 12 sacks in couple yearsis that asking for too much
RHEC
Mario was a Monster before Wade Phillips even came there and made that defense a top defense.
