Guest Deisel
This is going to cost more jobs, more inflation, more angst then anything else in the country. Where is this presidents plan? He may lose California over this. Lets hope so.

eatcorn
Domestic drilling has increased, and the price has risen. There isn't anything the President can do to lower gas prices.Stop whining about gas prices and effect change in your own life to decrease your dependence on gas, like a true conservative would. Why must you always look to the government to solve the problems you have created for yourself? kane#7
Sadly it is a global economy and as long as more and more cars are brought in China the price of gas will always go up.Unless you guys find another way to fuel cars they will be expensive to run. eatcorn
I'm not asking the government to solve problems, I'm asking the government TO GET OUT OF THE WAY of solving problems. They've been holding back drilling for decades now. Allow drilling in ANWAR, NOW.So that 20 years from now we might have some oil, and we might have a completely decimated ANWAR? No thanks.I'd prefer it if the whiny babies who want the government to solve their problems would us the free market options available to them to begin to solve the problem without the aid of the government. We currently pay FAR less than the average global price for oil http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/ene_gas_pri-energy-gasoline-prices#definitionAny oil produced in the US would be sold on the international market. So really, we already pay low prices, and your suggested fixes would only affect the world price of oil by a infinitely miniscule amount. So stop whining and effect change in your own life. Stop begging Obama to save you.
falconsd56
link??Gas is still 3.60 or so here and while California is more expensive it has never been double.
eatcorn
If Dems didn't stop drilling in ANWAR way back we would be reaping the benefits RIGHT NOW. Foolish to continue down the same stupid path.Again, more begging of the government. You can buy a fuel efficient vehicle. You can limit your travel. You can do countless things, yet you choose to whine to governments past and present. Take control of your own life.
eatcorn
And once again, I'm begging for the government TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. The oil companies have the ways and means to drill. It's the government that is in their way stopping them. They are very much out of the way, which you can see in the extremely low prices that US citizens pay for gasoline. You can also see this be looking at domestic drilling in recent years. The things you are begging of the government have happened, and they are part of the current state of affairs that you lament. What is not part of the current state of affairs is any indication that you are willing to take control of your own life rather than begging the government to further subsidize the things you are too lazy to address in your own life. The patent is out there. Do a search on Tom Ogle. He got a documented 200 miles on 2 gallons of gas...

IronBallsMcGinty
And who's to say the oil cartels wouldn't just decrease production in proportion to whatever we're able to produce domestically? Not only to preserve their profit margins, but just to spite us. Oil isn't just an economic issue, it's a national security issue. We are enriching our enemies every single day. IronBallsMcGinty
If they sell less oil and we (and others) are getting oil from other sources then they lose money. Simple as that. They'd preserve the per-unit price and their profits (like they do every summer). And we'd pay the same.

kane#7
If they sell less oil and we (and others) are getting oil from other sources then they lose money. Simple as that.Yes but if they keep the demand up they get paid more for less work... whatever they produce will be sold, they dictate what price it will be sold at.I don't think they would even be producing the peak capacity they could now. pencilpusher. just because
*hint* Keystone pipeline *hint* allow more domestic drilling *hint* *hint*And I don't want to hear the stupid argument that "it's not going to help much". It's going to help some...and we have to do EVERYTHING we can to solve the energy crisis. So answer me this. Are you aware that any oil via keystone pipeline or domestic drilling will simpluy go onto the world markt, and MAYBE affect the price of oil by 1 or 2 cents per barrel. Or do you agree with Snake, that the gov forces the oil companies to sell said oill to Americans for a much lower price, thus socializing the oil industry, something you have claimed to be 100% AGAINST in the past. Bonus question. Are you aware that all coastal states control drilling rights up to 3 nautical miles out. Would you be comfortable with the Feds taking those rights away and drilling away, state rights be damned?I realize you won't answer any of these questions because it brings all kinds of colors into your simple black and white thought process, but maybe someone with some intellectual honesty will rise above the derp parade and realize its not " Gas is high because the presidents the antichrist socialist muslim!!" Guest Deisel
We are being held hostage by our own Govt and OPEC. Supply is HERE. We have more oil thats retractable on American shores and land then the Saudi oil fields. We can AND will let loose a national energy policy when the next president(Romney) gets in office. This is a National security problem. Obama hasn't done a dam thing but give billions to his Green energy buddies and shut down coal plants, which will see our grids go dark as early as this summer. Prepare for those excuses.... Edited March 7, 2012 by Deisel
