With Tes Taking Over The League

Recommended Posts

Do we stand a chance of Charles falling to #55? With TEs starting to take over this pass happy NFL will teams rush to draft TEs? He reminds me of Vernon Davis and I'm happy to see Davis turn it on. NewEngland, NewOrleans, SanFran, Atlanta, Carolina, and a few others I can't think of right off hand use their TEs like WRs and having to cover TEs that can take it to the house everytime allows WRs to get open down field. I just have a feeling that this year will TEs will be like OL were in the 2008 draft and start flying off the board early. I sure hope not but I just have that feeling.

I wouldn't want to take him there even if he was there. He isn't super athletic or a freight train like the TEs who are becoming dominant forces in the NFL. He also has mental lapses and struggles to push through them, which showed in the combine where he performed horribly in the pass catching drills (likely because he was overly focused on workouts showing how strong he was since that was something people were questioning of him). He just doesn't impress me that much.

I'm torn between taking him (assuming he's there at 55) I guess it depends on who else is available. I'm not worried about combine performance, because he was money this year, rescued Aaron Murray plenty times. As much as i would like to have someone like Orson Charles learn from the best in Tony G, we have so many other needs that it would be difficult to pull the trigger on that when technically we don't need a TE until next year. I feel like in the end our immediate needs won't allow us to go with Charles, but i do think he will be a good TE in this league

I do think one will be there. The top 3 are second rounders and although TE is the new phase, not many teams have TE as a pressing need. I personally want Dwayne Allen more now than Charles. He had a subpar combine but I don't put too much stock in the combine. His film is the proof I need.

But I still like Egnew the most in the third. He has the size, speed, and catching ability. His blocking is subpar, but it's similar to Graham's. In 2010, he was unstoppable. In 2011, he was the only player on the offense and his stats suffered.

I'm with KoG.

I think we'll be fine with Hanna. Not predicted to go early in the draft so we can work on more pressing needs. He's tall and speedy with good hands as well. He's also learning from one of the best so we could potentially be getting a future gem.

I think we could wait until next year, as there might be better TEs coming out of the draft, but then again drafting either Orson or Fleener would be great as they can be groomed by Tony.
