FalconFanSince1970
No... I said i get what you are saying.... Just saying the Dunta Robinson example wasnt a good example.. We front loaded his contract in a uncap year so our cap hit in cap years will be lower pluse we could cut him after year 3 in the contract and actually gain cap space. But yea.. I get what you are saying...One thing tho... TD barfed at that because he didnt doesnt value LDEs at that price... The blindside (RDE) rush in is valued higher... (TD hinted that in an article)I think we would pay a RDE10 mil a year or an Elite guy around 12 mil... But yea... I dont think TD will pay a guy more then that.Dunta is a good example because of the size of his deal. $57M. Mario's will be $20-30M more. You gotta spread that money somehow. Guarantee a lot. I don't think you can do that at $8M in year one. If you do you could be setting up more serious problems.I think the only way we should get Mario this year is if we restructure Ryan, maybe Dunta, and cut two or three players. Ovie, SackMaker? We have 17 roster holes, need to upgrade five positions, just dropped a $10M tag and only have $30.8M cap dollars. So TD values RDEs more and will pay double digits. I'm not sure Nolan does. He might rather have ten four sack defenders. A lot will unfold. Some sooner, some later. Poppin my popcorn.
madman88
Its not just about being an upgrade over what we have... You have to think about at what Price and will he be worth it at that price.of course but he isnt the best tackle hitting FA... So his price might not be as high as ppl think... Falcons 'til Death
of course but he isnt the best tackle hitting FA... So his price might not be as high as ppl think...Which would make more sense to draft a LT this year as opposed to signing someone from a very unimpressive list of possible FA LT's. falconidae
$80-90M contracts don't start with a $8M hit in year one. I think you're dreaming. Dunta Robinson had a $12M hit in year one.Ryan had a 72 mil contract and a 2.8 mil cap hit his first year.5 year contract, 20 mil signing bonus and 1mil in salary the first year makes for a 6 mil cap hit. Guest Negatorris
Why not give Svitek another year, and draft a top LT in the first round of the draft next year?

Im just saying rather his cap hit is 8 mil (what someone else said) or 10 mil... Its not a big difference... We can cut Baker and Ovie and get a little over 5 mil in cap space.. Charles Johnson cap hit was 9 mil and this year its 10 mil... . Jared Allen cap hit was some how 3+ mil his first year...It depends on the structure and the signing bonus.I'm not saying it will happen... I get what you are saying... I'm just saying it is possibleIn 2014 the cap will sky rocket ? (The new TV deals will come in effect) ... A team would just need to make the cap hit bearable for the next 2 yearsI think the bidding war will get to high for us.
HouseofEuphoria
It would be a huge relief to see us sign Levi Brown.6' 6" 324. Just turning 28 yrs old. He's young enough to be coached up by Hill and old enough to have the experience needed to play the position from day one.Dude would be a great cornerstone at LT for us and could protect Ryan for many years to come.As i've said before - nothing exciting, nothing fancy, nothing flashy. Lets fix the trenches and the excitement will come from the many weapons we already have on the team.Forget the Mario madness for now, and let's get a guy who can protect our franchise QB. Knight of God
Forget about a top shelf OT or OG. Grimes at $10.6M plus the Mario boys wanna drop $14M on Mario. That will leave about $8-10M to fill the other 15 free agent spots just so we can field a roster.I'm still not high on that one.
