Predict The Saints Punishment.

Obviously i can see Goodell coming out and suspending Payton for 5 years, and forcing the Saints to hire Raheem Morris as their new HC.

Maybe force Brees to go to another team, while forcing the Saints to acquire Jimmy Clausen from the Panthers via trade, for the Saints 2013 first, second and third round draft picks.

The more I look at it... I can't see anything more than some small fines.

There was video proof of what the Patriots did. A LOT of video proof. That's why the hammer was dropped on them.

Besides what I posted here: http://boards.atlantafalcons.com/topic/3943110-bounty-ful-fun-in-nola/page__st__140 in regards to how it's impossible that 22 to 27 players over 3 years were paid bounties specifically on a player being knocked out or carted off (where the almost 100% likely scenario is that most, if not all of them were paid bounties based on forcing turnovers or getting sacks), I think this story is yet another offseason story that is blown way out of proportion due to there being absolutely NOTHING going on right now.

No football, no baseball, middle of the NBA season, no NFL free agency, still awhile for the draft. Nothing to talk about. Media needs to build up a story.

And here's yet another little factoid.... the Saints just recently asked to play in the HOF game since Willie Roaf was elected. The NFL just announced a day or two ago that the Saints would be playing the Cardinals. If the NFL was mad at the Saints right now, I find it unlikely that they would have done that.

Again. Consider all facts and watch every single game for 3 years. It's absolutely impossible that 22 to 27 players were paid bounties for injuring an opposing player. If that were true, you're looking at at least 40 to 50 injuries by an opposing offensive player (due to most players being paid multiple "bounties" in this scenario) over three years. This list could possibly include special teams as well. This of course includes the normal list of injuries that happen throughout a football game as well, and not those taken on because of "malicious" hits.

The more that you read about it the more you see just how bad it could be.

they spent 3 years investigating and they have thousands of pages of PROOF of what happened.

I can see the saints losing 2 or 3 draft picks and alot of money in fines. maybe a suspension or 2.

Again you can not stress this enough......the nfl KNEW about it and told the saints to stop............ but they did not.

If you think it is small fries I have a bridge to sell you.

You would think any named player involved would be fined and or suspended. After all it was the players money being pooled. I doubt this could happen.. It would only lead to months of court hearings and rich guys bitching.

Money came from coaches, money came from outside sources, money came from players. Williams issued a confession and apology, saying, "we knew it was wrong while we were doing it..." He also called it a "pay for performance program" Key word Program.

This was NOT just a pool of players throwing money into a hat and giving it to the first guy with an int, like Darren Sharper is lying. Williams himself, as well as outside sources put money in. This counts as salary cap fraud as well.

NFL documents state that Loomis was told to put a stop to it by Benson and ignored that oreder. They also state that Payton knew about the "Program" and failed to stop it.

There will be fines, suspensions, and draft picks lost. Bank on it. If there are firings, they will have to come from the owner; I don't think the NFL league office has the power to actually fire a coach or GM. Loomis might lose his job if Benson's hand is forced. Payton's job is probably safe, but I'll wager he'll be suspended for a portion of the season, as will Gregg Williams. I also believe they'll lose this year's second rounder and next year's first and second. And everyone involved will get fined.

A slap on the wrist. I mean, the league has to protect its darling rating feelgood ect. team that it has rigged the entire system in favor of over the past however many years.

Of if we're ready to be serious, it will likely be a mix of day 1 draft picks, steep fines and suspensions.

It will pale in comparison to the self-crucifiction going on in certain discussions (in the name of justice!), but it will be adequate for competitve sports.

Tons of fines, loss of this years 2nd and next years first. Williams is going to get suspended, Payton mzy get suspended and he will get heavily fined, players are going to get suspended the IRS is going to get involved the Saints will get fines against there cap and possibly lose their Franchise tag. Bascially the franchise is going to fall into shambles and the entire front office and roster is going to get turn around pretty quick.

A slap on the wrist is what you hope, TAINTS fans. You won't get it so face the fact that your team is in DEEP SH*T!

That's some funny chit! Making them hire Raheem Morris is a bit too drastic. If Payton, Williams & Loomis had conspired to kill someone perhaps.

I say toss Williams outta the legue permanently. Suspend Payton for 1 season. Fine Loomis $750,000.00, and take away all the Saints 2012 draft picks.

I guarantee nothing like this would ever happen again in the NFL!

Three years worth of violations, three years of punishment will be doled out. This will equate to draft picks, fines, suspensions, maybe even relocation down the road!

RELOCATION??????????

WTF does that have to do with anything? What a ******* TURD!rolleyes.gif

Would you rather it be the buccies? That would make sense I guess...

Unlike the vindictive, trite, little man you are, I would never wish that on any city or fanbase.

Tell us some more about how important you are, or was that impotent? I'm sure the latter is the truth.

Oddly, I think that's pretty close to what is actually going to happen in regards to the "pay for performance program" portion of their punishment.

Then they'll forfeit NEXT YEAR's first and second rounds for violation of salary cap restrictions from a separate charge point of view.

I'm hearing/reading that they may also get hit with a Salary Cap penalty for a few years aswell.

This is gonna be great..... biggrin.png

HOT ****!!!!!

False Advertising

Fans who paid a good deal of money to attend Saints games, be they home or away, may reason that they were the victims of false advertising: they paid to watch competitive NFL football, not hired hit men who tried to injure other human beings. Louisiana has several laws for remedying false advertising and deceptive trade practices.

I'm getting in touch with my attorney, Vinny Boombots, first thing in the morning! I figure the Saints should pay for my BUCS Season Tickets for AT LEAST the next 10 years!

Would love to see GW banned from the NFL, I agree with your punishments. Coaches and Owners would manage their teams better, out of fear that the punishment the Saints received would befall on their teams.

I keep waiting for Raheem's "Bounty Program" to surface. He didn't quite understand the concept, and started paying his players to not tackle. $1k per tackle missed. McDermott subscribed to that program a little also.
