LOL I am glad my favorite football player still plays for my favorite team.

I know you are.

Whether people admit it or not we need him and his skill set.

We knew it was coming for a min. It was said Grimes would never hit the market. Only way we could do that is to tag him or have a deal. Id imagine grimes camp wants to see what the next 2 rated CB`s get this off season before committing to a new deal.

I don't believe that to be the case but him not signing the tender is something that he has done already with the 1st round tender. He will make more than Cortland and any other FA Corner and I'm suspecting that he at least would like to be the third highest paid corner after Asamagha and Robinson but he is a Falcon and will be able to test the market.plus he has already made it clear that he would like Robinson money and the other CBs want make close to that.

Listening to the high remarks by Thomas Dimitroff about Brent, I will. He's not going anywhere.

yea because it's good to trash all over your product that you're shopping to prospective buyers.

grimes' camp said they had no interest in signing the tag. what does that mean?

he wants a long term deal

he wants a long term deal

Exactly, because he is getting older, he wants to secure his future. Every year after this his value goes down because of age. No matter how good a performance and 1 injury could kill his value.

C, Finn is doing the same thing and the titans if they can not get a shorter deal will likely keep him on a 1 year deal.

Hopefully grimes camp considers that and takes a shorter deal. But its harder for a CB at age 33 to get paid than it is at 29. So they probably are shooting for a 5 year deal.

It's probably a non-exclusive tag. They get extra time to work on a contract with Grimes and if someone else is willing to pay him much more then the Falcons get to work out a compensation deal. If a team is desperate enough to get Grimes then the Falcons could potentially move back into the 1st round this year and get another 1st rounder next year.

It's a win-win situation for the Falcons. Either they get to keep their top corner or get something from him leaving.

So that means we would get the first round pick of whoever signed him?

Well, the compensation is supposed to be 2 first rounders, but since nobody is going to give us that for Grimes, we could make a trade where we sign Grimes to a lesser contract and get less compensation. Doubt anyone would give us a first for Grimes, but maybe a second.

Actually, we'd get two 1st rounders.

A "non-exclusive" franchise player must be offered a one-year contract for an amount no less than the average of the top five salaries at the player's position in the previous year, or 120 percent of the player's previous year's salary, whichever is greater. A non-exclusive franchise player may negotiate with other NFL teams, but if he signs an offer sheet from another team, the original team has a right to match the terms of that offer, or if it does not match the offer and thus loses the player, is entitled to receive two first-round draft picks as compensation.

I'm pretty sure most franchise tags are non-exlusive, you just don't see many teams take the offer since it's so steep. That said, this season might bode well for the Falcons since the Bengals and Patriots both have needs in the secondary and they have a good deal of flexibility in the next two drafts, along with cap room.

Unbelieveable. There's no way that would ever pan out, but imagine getting 2 first rounders for Grimes. I think I'd be content with that
