tobyd77
Maybe it just me but I get the feeling that TD and Smitty are feeling it and all they keep hearing is AB saying I want rings and championships. Could this be why FA decisions for our own players is taking so long?We have only heard about 3 of the 17 guys that they were talking with so far but very little. Now I know that TD and company try to live by the Patriot way but I'm hearing more out of the Patriots organization than our own. I think that AB has these guys walking on eggshells around there and wants to know every move that they are going to make that it is holding up the FA process for our own players what do you think? vel
No. You're making it out to be more than what it is. Abe, Grimes, and Lofton are the obvious big names. They have a market for their services. There is no market for HD, Biermann, Decoud, and the others like the big three. The same could be the said for the Saints if you want to say so
Ewok
Biermann and Douglas have been looked at by many teams.. their market IS relatively high..Harry could be an easy 2nd receiver for teams, and Biermann can be a starter for weaker DEs
tobyd77
All I keep hearing is the same story over and over again they going to franchise grimes if they can't work out a long-term deal or they are undeciding on Lofton's role. You already know that it is a strong chance that you will franchise grimes do it already. And you stated that you will not over pay Lofton and don't feel that he is a great pass coverage lineman stop playing with the guy let him go because you not going to give him what Jackson from the browns made or Brooks just made on his new deal from the 49ers. They making to much out of it just move on to the next guy that you would like to sign from your team.

Dude has barely 1000 yards & 3 touchdowns in FOUR seasons, yet someone's gonna give him starter money? Yeah right.

Defenses just plan on shutting Julio, Roddy and Tony G down without even worrying about him, so when he steps in, he occasionally gets a decent gain. The only place he would possibly be a starter at is Jacksonville. Sheerz
I hope AB has turned up the heat. Hopefully they come out more like hot sauce than vanilla this year...

I would like to know which teams. Lol this is funny. HD could not easily be a #2 for teams unless they have a #2 WR parading as their #1 WR. And I would love to hear who has been looking at Biermann, these many teams. You don't have to make up stuff to try and look good lol
atljbo
I think its more about the league hasnt even released the offcial cap or franchise tag numbers.. I think we are working on deals but i also think the FO want to see what the official numbers will be

Master Exploder
Teams haven't "looked" at anybody yet. At least not openly. I think you're being too impatient. No team is going to lock a player up right now. There is a reason why Drew Brees, Carl Nicks, Ray Rice, and Matt Forte don't have contracts yet. Teams are going to wait until the deadline or until after some players test the waters to re-sign them. The Falcons are no different.I don't think any teams would be looking at Kroy or Harry as starters either. Their best case scenario is to land with a team with a weak unit for a chance to compete, but I doubt they'll be brought in by any team as more than just a role-player. Also, the only players you really worry about hitting FA are your stars. Letting Decoud / HD / Snelling / Biermann find out their market value is not necessarily a bad thing - then they'll return cheap if the market is soft (see Snelling last year).Signing mid-tier guys at this point would cost the most optimistic possible projection on the market (e.g. paying DeCoud $6m/yr - see Ahmad Brooks' deal with SF for a recent example) and that just doesn't present value. Magic Man
The deadline for franchising players is coming up. You will hear rumblings on that soon. As far as locking up our own players, wouldn't you wait to find out how much money you have before spending anything? In other words, would you ever go to the grocery store, and spend $300 only to find out you only had 250 to spend? No, so by that same rationale, the Falcons are waiting to see what the cap figure is going to be before spending. Some are just looking to create controversy. P.S. If Drew Brees doesn't have a new contract (you know the guy who is as valuable to N.O. as Manning was proved to be to Indy) then what in all the world would make you think that Grimes, Lofton or Abe would have one? Think about that.
VaderMan
I just know that we are all eager for the draft and how that will work but FA will determine much of that. I just hope we address both lines in FAs and then take the best Def player at 55, where ever we need it most. I want Mychal Kendricks, MLB from Cal, which means I dont want Lofton back, well at a high rate anyway.
