## Imd Free Agency Bidding Thread - Defense ##

107 posts in this topic

Post all bids for defensive free agents in this thread. I'm trying to minimize the number of threads that we take up in here this year, so I am doing just an offensive/defensive thread for free agents to start with. If it becomes too much to handle in 2 threads, I may add a couple more threads.

1. Max number of years on an offer is 6 years.

2. Signing bonus must be divisible by the number of years and end with either 250k, 500k, 750k, or 000k.

3. The max signing bonus cannot exceed the year 1 base salary times the number of years on the deal.

4. You really only have to bid on a player once. That gets you into the bidoff over the last 2 days. If you keep upping the bids during this initial period it just makes a lot more work for me. :P

5. Check all of your bids here to make sure they are correct and have been added. If they are not there within 24 hours, send me a PM.

Remember to make your bids look like this just so it's easier for me....

3-year deal with a $1,500,000 signing bonus (bonus equally divisible by the number of years & ends with 250k, 500k, 750k, or 000k)

Year 1 Base Salary $750,000

Year 2 Base Salary $1,000,000

Year 3 Base Salary $2,000,000

Year 1 cap hit is $1,250,000

Total salary is $5,250,000

To explain the cap hit, it is the Year 1 base salary plus the 1 season average of the signing bonus. To figure how much bonus to apply to each year of the deal, I divide the bonus amount by the number of years. The bonus is $1,500,000 on a 3-year deal. So in this case the bonus equals $500,000 per season. Add the $500,000 to the year 1 base of $750,000 and my cap hit is now $1,250,000 for this player.

Example 2

Randy Moss

6 year deal with a $24,000,000 signing bonus

Year 1 base Salary $8,000,000

Year 2 base salary $9,500,000

Year 3 base salary $11,750,000

Year 4 base salary $14,000,000

Year 5 base salary $16,500,000

Year 6 base salary $19,750,000

Year 1 cap hit is $12,000,000

Total salary is $103,500,000

Base salary (8 million) + Prorated signing bonus (24 million/6) = Year 1 cap hit (8 million + 4 million = 12 million)

PLEASE put all your bids in the format of these 2 examples, including the Year 1 cap hit and total salary. It will make it much easier on everyone as they decipher your bids.

Moved this to the correct thread. It wasn't there when we started because the board was giving me problems last night & wouldn't let me create it.

2nd deal 900k base salaries not allowed. Needs to be 1M, 750k, 500k, or 250k.

Rai, need you to tweak these two just a bit. New rule this year, signing bonus must not exceed Year 1 base salary times the number of years on the contract. So for Blackburn the max signing bonus would be 750K. Goff is off as well.

EJ Hendersons cap hit is 750k taking you down to 1.25million left. And his signing bonus is not correct. It can only be year 1 base salary times 2, so 500k (but that would make the cap hit correct then). So either adjust the SB to 500K or raise the year 1 base salary to 500K & adjust the cap hit to 1 million.

Also the EJ Henderson contract doesn't work - signing bonus is more than x2 Year 1 salary

FYI:

If you look on the website, you will see that the FA spreadsheets are color coded.

Yellow means there is 1 bid on a player.

Green means there is at least 2 bids on a player & they are headed to the bidoff on the final 2 days.

Purple means the player has been franchised. You can still bid on a franchised player, but if you win him, it costs you a 1st & 2nd round pick (or 2 picks in the 1st round if you have 2)

Red means nothing, just the way I initially formatted the tables.
