k-train
We need to draft Devon Wylie from Fresno State in the 6th or 7th round. He's a shifty, agile guy with great acceleration who draws comparisons to Wes Welker & he can be dangerous on punt returns, too.He weighed in at 5'9" 187lbs.Ran a 4.39 40Has a 39" verticalDid 17 reps of 225lbs10'3" broad jump"TOP TEN PROSPECTS WHO HELPED THEMSELVES AT THE EAST-WEST SHRINE: WR Devon Wylie, Fresno State: Last names that begin with the letter "W" aren't the only similarity Wylie has with Wes Welker as the Fresno State receiver shows the short-area burst and quickness to work in the short-half of the field. He fights the ball at times and is a smaller target, but he makes sharp, decisive cuts and flashed an elusive quality in practices. Wylie looks best as a "Y" receiver in the slot and also offers value as a punt returner. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com""PLAYERS TO WATCH: WR/PR Devon Wylie - The senior is finally healthy and it shows. Wylie has had a punt return of 30 or more yards in four consecutive games. He is 10th in the country in punt return average at 16.0 yards per return. Wylie is second in total returns and total yards on returns, trailing only Alabama's Marquis Maze. - The Sports Xchange"

Knight of God
We'd do just as well looking in the undrafted pool for a KR.
delaigle
We'd do just as well looking in the undrafted pool for a KR.It's not the KR/PR--- the Falcon's have others that can do thatIt's not the WR--- the Falcon's already have others that can do thatIt's the special team's gunner both on KO and punts that may require a replacement(i do not know if there are other already on the team as good as Weems--- although there are a couple that look pretty good at this)
HASHBROWN3
If you want a thorough report on Wylie, look at my thread posted below entitled "I dont think we go WR but"... 1989Fan
how about Cone from the practice squad for his replacement as#5 WR, and Franks as his replacment for KR?

You really just don't have to.

You really just don't have to.OH I just meant that is the function that would be hard to replace,, not saying go draft a gunner no no not at all.Addedthe WR and returner functions are easily fixed using the existing roster Edited February 28, 2012 by delaigle
delaigle
how about Cone from the practice squad for his replacement as#5 WR, and Franks as his replacment for KR?A little behind there -- Cone was activitated from the PS to the 53 man roster late in the season as the #6 WR. yea I think he could replace Weems as the #5 WR. Also he's 6'3" and fast (4.38)Added However I do not think he can do the KR/PR thing and I'm almost sure he can't do the gunner thing. HASHBROWN3
This guy caught my eye when I flipped the tv on during the combine. His workouts will blow your mind and may be there in the 4th or 5th round. He is under 5'10" and ran a 4.37 at the combine He is quicker than Wes Welker in the slot w/ good hands and can jump out of the park!Google devon wylie USC combine (just out of high school)He is an absolute beast on special teams and a guaranteed starter there. Not only that but he can kill returning kicks too.Dude is a white boy who will get looked past due to his size & some injury history but this guy will be suiting it up in the nfl for someone... Slot WR, special teams gunner, return man... he does it all & he does it all very well. seems to have a very, very high motor, too.Can you imagine running a double reverse w/ this kid and Julio... teams would sh!t a brick. I pulled a vid after the combine run and saw all this other stuff too. He brings excellent mid-lower round value and would come cheaper than Weems. never know... JMO.......yeah of course but the team still needs a return man nonetheless and this dude does that, covers kicks and punts like weems and can possibly fill another huge role as our slot man on O. I mean if we get rid of HD or Weems, or both, this guy can replace both... Might be reaching here somewhat but if you look at the tapes it ain't far fetched to think he could...
