A Pimp Named Slickback™
Why did we sign this guy if he wasn't 100% at signing?

since68andcounting
So, he's coming off surgery and that's why he had a down year last year. Then he needs surgery again, so that will be the excuse next year. Then everyone says, "well, knee surgery is really a 2 year recovery", so that excuses him until 2014. Is anyone seeing a pattern here?I'm really sick of the constant injury excuses. Not just with Edwards. Same with Jerry...and HD...and Baker. Sooner or later you just have to say it is what it is and call a bust a bust. Look at Weatherspoon. Spoon was VERY effective last year even after a pretty serious injury his rookie year. Another example...Terrell Owens balled out in the Super Bowl SIX weeks after breaking a leg. Either a guy can play, or he can't. This prolonged "injury cushion" on our player evaluation is a bunch of crap.

1989Fan
this guy better not become Ed Hurtwell 2.0If so, the team can likely dump him after this season.

1989Fan
This is why you don't interview someone over Skype.another useless post.TD has been GM of the year 2 of 3 years having this position. But then again, with a name like "I Hate Dunta" we should probably put more value in you opinion, lol.

In this case it is a EH 2.0!
Hashbrown3
I will force myself to look at this news in a positive light. We all expected to see some Ray Ray getting it on. Full strength is the buzzword I noticed in this article. I fully expect to see Ray showing what he was signed for. If not, I will be pizzed. No way we can pay this guy 2 years of salary and get no production from it... Heck, I want serious QB damage, not just run support.
aerosmith67
How many surgeries/injuries go unreported during the season and off-season? That's the question you need to ask yourself. The team I played on in College averaged about 10-15 surgeries of various degrees every year after the season was over, now compound that with the NFL level of play and the age of these guys. There's no reason Smith had to report the injury/surgery, I guess it just helps to explain the level of play throughout the season.
1989Fan
I agree Aerosmith, these prcedures are very common. They are done not to 'repair' as much as they are to speed up and aid heeling. He will probably be in better shape after having the srugery, than if he were just to rehab it as most would.I think too many hear surgery, and relate it to torn ACLs, etc. These athletes hve surgery very commonly to aid in healing, even though their injuries may be nothing worse than we deal with on a daily basis. (like my sore knees, or arthritis pain i get in my surgically repaired ankle/shin).
Guest Gritz
There are just a handful of guys on the Falcons who IMO give off a very negative/sour vibe.Edwards leads that parade.

I could tell he was that kind of person by his look and the way he carries himself. The fact that he had a calendar signing event scheduled the Tuesday after our playoff game (yes, this was scheduled before the game was even played) shows you his priorities. If we won, he would have a non football obligation scheduled during peak time. But the board is in uproar because Grimes sat out.
Andre5000
Ray Edwards is one of the many guys FAILS we have signed over the years that had inflated stats due to the guys next to him drew double teams and what not..Ed Hartwell- Ray LewisPeerless Price- Eric Moulds Ray Edwards- all 3 guys next to him (The Williams and Jarad Allen)

vel
yeah, it's funny that certain guys seem to get a pass on this board and other guys catch all the flak......It's because Grimes made a smart business decision when his contract was ending, so they could bash him on his way out the door. Edwards made a poor business decision WHILE he was a Falcon and they don't want to bash him because he is still a Falcon.
