FalconofShadows
Robert Mathis - DL - ColtsThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution believes the Falcons may target free agent DE Robert Mathis if free agent DE John Abraham prices himself out of their plans.Abraham is currently seeking an unreasonable $12 million per year. Mathis is an Atlanta native, but re-signing him is expected to be one of the Colts' top priorities. Sunday is Mathis' 31st birthday, while Abraham will turn 34 in May.http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1568/robert-mathis
Tribal Chief
Do the Falcons realize that we need a good pass rushing DT as well. Without any real pressure from the inside, our DE will continue to struggle, no matter who we have
RHEC
Falcons rather go after Mathis and not Mario? Mathis has a high chance of being tagged or resigned.
NateDogg1215
trade a 34 year old for a 31. We need a long term solution not short. MARIO!!!!!!!!!!
FalconsManhood
I call B.S. Let's face it we will not fill all of our holes on this team, we will make one FA signing at either RG,LT,DE and use the draft to plug in as many holes as possible. We will probably miss the playoffs next year and TD's excuse will be new schemes on both sides of the ball.
jdub051082
I hope they make a strong approach, Abe wants the loot at 34yrs of age. Not going to happen. Mathias is a little younger and probably wouldn't try to break the bank. However, the help on the outside should help with pressure in the middle. Better off sticking with Sid. Mario isn't guaranteed to last a full season and that's just way to much money to play Risk with

falconsd56
Mathis would be a good pick up.however I would not want him to be THE pick up.I would love to see us grab Mathis and another guy to rotate in with Sid and Edwards
Tribal Chief
Better risk then Osi.Who wouldn't agree with that lol. Mario is a combination of a million different traits. I wouldn't want us breaking the bank on him and not filling other important holes though

Peters out played him at times on passing downs... And peters is no suh.. jerry we all kno about him.. walker doesnt get enough reps but can play.. but we despertately need an inside push... qbs always step up into the pocket when our DEs set the edge... g-dawg
here is the thing. If the source is the AJC, then the rumor has no legs to it. D-Led could not find a story if you nailed it to his forehead. All D-Led does is read what other writers report - and then regurgitate it - every time Ledbetter goes out on a limb - he's wrong everytime. He simply guesses.

madman88
Babs fell off when he got that weed chargeyou kno wat yourright.. thats around the time he did fall off... Him and jerry has been dissapointing in the pass rush... Run game the DTs were a beast but we need players that can do both.. that or we need to stop depending on them and bring more pressure. Faithful Falcon
Babs fell off when he got that weed chargeThe devil is a lie! Babs got better after that weed charge. Babs feel off when he got hurt, and they cut his reps. Jerry and Peters have been getting most of the reps. Babs has been nothing short of solid. FalconFanSince1970
Babs fell off when he got that weed chargeI think Babineaux fell off when we shifted him from the LDT spot to the RDT spot. If we pick up a DT it should be a DT that can play RDT and maybe NT in a 3-4, then put Babineaux back at LDT and let Peters back him up.Babineaux at RDT (2010-2011) - 5 sacks, 11 hits, 44 pressures, 39 tacklesBabineaux at LDT (2008-2009) - 11 sacks, 16 hits, 45 pressures, 75 tacklesas compared to:Peters at LDT (2010-2011) - 4 sacks, 3 hits, 27 pressures, 51 tackles

Theres not a big difference linning up on the left or right shoulder of a center.. both a gaps require the samething for a DT and he can play both.. he just fell off idk why... Babineaux played LDT.We drafted Jelly but TJ got most of the snaps at RDT in 2009 and Babineaux played mostly at LDT.In 2010 we drafted Peters and shifted Babineaux to RDT with Jelly backing up Peters at LDT. Same thing in 2011.There is a difference in a RDT and LDT in the Smitty defense we ran. Same with Mora's defense.
