Falconsfan567
Saw this posted on Twitter from CFB Live. If they don't want kickoffs anymore in football then they should just put the ball at the 20 for every possession.
Falconsfan567
Oh wait a minute. Just learned touchbacks have been moved from the 20 to the 25. WTH?
Dawgfanbrock
It does take away from the game a bit imo, BUT as a dawg fan i am totally fine with it, our special teams and coverage is at best avg- and since boykin is gone- with our D, the less chance O have for cheap points im all for it.. the 25 is a lot better than what UF has been doing and also another hated team of mine CLEMSON, this will keep S. Wakins from returning 8 this year! For UGA this is a good thing- effective next season?
SacFalcFan
i mentioned this on the board when many college coaches were complaining about the collisions and then during the concussion study the nfl had, special team's collisions were considered a big part of the problem with causing head injuries. this was bound to happen. it's one reason why the nfl and college changed the rules on the wedge you can set up.. the safety of the players is THE reason for this. Billy Pilgrim
I did not realize a single bit of difference this season in the kickoff rule tbh.If I had any kind of say at all, I'd completely do away with the kickoff to begin with. Start @ the 20 after a scoring drive and be done with it. The whole kickoff thing is stupid. I'd also do away with extra points and just make TD's count for 7 points. It's so stupid that some fake football player has to go out there and kick a ball through the uprights to cap off a TD.

I understand why they did this. Just do away with the kickoffs and put the ball at the 20. Why the 25? That's completely ********? It's like the stupid college overtime rule. Just play a normal OT period of about 7 or 8 minutes. or put the ball at the 50. Make the team have to move the ball to get into field goal range. You get the ball at the 25. If you don't gain or lose any yards it's a 35-yard field goal. Any decent kicker can make a 35-yard field goal. Put it at the 50. Make teams at least have to make a couple 1st downs to get a shot at a field goal. I like that both teams get a chance with the ball. It's better than the NFL having 2 different sets of OT rules for regular season and postseason.I'm a big historical buff. So while moving the touchback from the 20 to 25 isn't a big deal to you it's a big deal to me because it's been 20 forever and I see no reason to change it.And yes that is a stupid rule about having to miss a play if your helmet comes off. Infinitepwnz
I am not a big fan of the move. I don't like it in the NFL. KO returns are an exciting part of football. However, I understand the injury concerns, so it is what it is.
Volunteer Falcon
Maybe we can get the ball in the end zone on kick offs now!
