Mo Claiborne One Step Closer To The Bucs

February 23rd, 2012

130218189_display_image.jpg?1321463094Given the possibility that the Bucs could be looking at two holes at cornerback for the 2012 season, Joe has been banging the drum for the Bucs to draft stud LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne with the fifth overall pick.

Well, the Bucs took a step toward such a move last night when the Bucs hired Claiborne’s position coach,

LSU secondary coach Ron Cooper, so reports Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Under Cooper, the Tigers’ secondary accounted for 16 interceptions, nine fumble recoveries and 12 forced fumbles. LSU led the nation in turnover margin (+1.69) and ranked fifth in total interceptions with 18.

The Tigers allowed just seven passing touchdowns all season, the fewest by an LSU team since it allowed only five in 1989.

Joe once again begs Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik to land a top flight starting cornerback; draft Claiborne and suddenly the Bucs have a solid if not good pair or corners.

And no, Joe is not holding his breath that troubled Aqib Talib will be on the Bucs’ roster this fall.

Parting ways with "troubled" Talib would go a long way in restoring respect to that franchise...

Who care about the bucs!

You will next season when we roll into Dallas and put a BIG TIME hurt on Romo & Co. wit the new version of the Pewter Powered Defense. We sign Carr, draft Mo to stick back there with him to catch all the balls whoever happens to be throwing it up for grabs while McCoy, Price, Clayborn & Bowers feast on your O-Line.

There's a new sheriff in town and he's not some delusional clown that spends more time thinking up clever words rather than gameplanning and practicing.

There's a very strong feeling he won't be back, no matter how his legal intanglements turn out!

The Falcons should sign him.wink.png

Yeah!! You tell him, bro!...

Josh Freeman is so much better than Tony Romo...

No doubt that Claiborne would be an upgrade for the Bucs.

What about Kalil? Matt Kalil could be a staple of a very solid Oline for the Bucs, for the next decade.

Blackmon could be this years Green or JJ, for the Bucs. Could give Freeman a lot of help in the passing game.

Bucs could find a massive upgrade with any of those players. Blackmon or Kalil would be the most beneficial to Freeman.

There's virtually no chance of Kalil falling to #5. But if he were to, if they're able to sign Brandon Carr they may just pass up Mo and take Kalil. He'd be a massive upgrade on our line but I doubt we'll be having to look at that scenario. But if we put Mo back there with a solid FA we'd have a helluva backfield to go along with our maturing front four.

Part of me would not mind seeing Kalil in a Bucs jersey. It'd be neat if both brothers play in the same division. At least there would be more stuff for analysts to gossip about when discussing our upcoming games!

I'm hoping Colts take Luck.. Rams take Blackmon, Phins or Skins trade up with the Vikings and pick up RG3, Browns, not really needing that much Oline help, takes the next best value on the board for their offense....and Bucs....have their choice of Kalil, or Mo.

I remember before last season when you were talking all this trash...ohmy.png

So? You all did the same thing the Jags did. You show me a fan that will ackowledge that P.O.S. we had as head coach and I'll show you a fan that thinks we were Super Bowl bound LAST SEASON. To try and use any victory over the BUCS last season as ammo just shows how weak your arsenal is.laugh.png

Who are the bucs eyeing in the draft? Where do they pick? And what about free agency? From what I can tell they have a QB, WR and RB and like Dallas they need ALOT of work on the defensive side of the ball.

We're all thinking Mo Claiborne with the #5 pick in round 1. Although if Kalil or Blackmon are there that might change.

I seriously doubt we'll spend the #5 on Richardson. Look for us to pick up a 1st tier cb and rb and a 1st or 2nd tier lb in free agency.
