g-dawg
I was so glad to hear this interview. Make no mistake, John Abraham has been a very good Atlanta Falcon and has produced in his time here in Atlanta - the trade Rich McKay made to get Abe was one of his better moves at Falcons GM.But Abe will be 34yrs old and he is in decline - he can still come up with the sensational game every now and then - but his snaps are reducing, he still gets those groin strains ("Dear God please lay your hand on Abe's groin" ) and its just time for him to move on. Falcons don't need a stop-gap at DE - they need their future Defensive End (insert name here - you know who mine is).Now Abe goes on 790-the-zone and says that his number is $12 million per year - and he intimated that it would be a multi-year deal. I know no other team is foolish enough to give Abe a contract like that either - but I don't want Abe at any price - its time to move on.Good bye Abe.Thank you for your Falcons Service.Wish you all the best

Guest Gritz
If that's his and his agent's rock hard, bottom line price then I have 3 things to tell Abe:I-285, 85, and Hartsfield-Jackson.
Steel City Falcon
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! He can't be serious! What team would pay him 12 mil a year to show up in 3 or 4 games?
mrobinson3803
He said everyone else is making 12 mil and that he hasn't been far off as far as production if not up to par. He wants to be here but he isnt gonna play for less than Edwards to stay and that understandable. He is probably looking for something around 8 or 9 mil which is about how much he made per year since he as been with us. I say let Biermann walk bring Abe back and get a good NT to collapse the pocket. If not go get Mario and ahve the second coming of Abe in ATL for the next 6 years
Dharma Initiative
To be honest, $5 million is a stretch. Ray Edwards gets that and will honestly probably play better this year than Abe.

madman88
Wow.. see ya abe.. this may very wel be his last year unless he is willing to take less... the "everyone" term doesnt include them being 34yrs old being one foot out the door.. vel
Haha wow. I would have offered him $7M at the most. $12M is hilarious. Haha well one FA down that we can save on space. I guess, depending on the money Lofton and Grimes want, we could end up making a serious play for Super Mario

falcon057
I guess the home discount to retire a Falcon is a f---- load of crappe. We anit dancing with that # I'll start calling, for TD head if we do that deal. It's a business find what the market will bare I guessGood luck Abe
Aftermath
thats hilarious, he might get some team to overpay at $8M, but $12M is crazy.
DD: Objective Elite
No team in the NFL is gonna pay Abe $12M per season. Hopefully, Atlanta can land his replacement in FA.
Master Exploder
I think he's blowing smoke and waiting for somebody to try and "low ball" him for $8-9 million a year. Who knows though. He could be dead serious. He does have a legitimate point though. He has not really slowed down. He's still pretty dominant and every once in awhile you get these DE's that can play until they're 37-38.
VaderMan
If this is the case, then cut ties. I doubt he gets that from any team though. Look into Super Mario, if it can be done...do it. If not, sign Cliff Avril.

I think it's questionable to throw a figure like $12 Million out there before FA starts but if I'm a player that knows that he's got 1-2 years left in his career and several kids to take care of over the next 60 years I'm asking for as much as possible, forget discounts. Quizztorris
From what I'm hearing we're going to let him test the free agent market and figure out what he's worth. Hopefully, he'll come back to reality and we can resign him.
Swift&Change
This is why not having this 1st year is huge or 2nd round pick last year . All these holes could have been addressed without spending ton of draft picks on Julio . Now we are set to let our pass rusher go due to value of contract and no realiable plan of action in place . I doubt were going after MarioCliff Avril bout to get franchised That leaves open current roster or draft 2nd or 3rd round
