Fleener won’t do drills at the Combine

We’ve heard that this isn’t a great class for tight ends. (Then again, we heard that when Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham, and Aaron Hernandez came out in 2010.)

The top player at the position could be Stanford tight end Coby Fleener, who is far from guaranteed to go in the first round. Fleener won’t be able to help his draft stock at the Combine on the field because he’ll miss athletic drills with a foot injury, according to Rob Rang of CBSSports.com.

Most analysts have Fleener, Georgia’s Orson Charles, and Clemson’s Dwayne Allen as the top three tight ends, usually with second round grades.

Does this help or hurt our chances?

Boy did I miss read your title "Falcon hopeful TE will not work out"

first the Falcons have a TE that they are hopeful will not make the team

second a hopeful TE will not "fit" the new Falcons scheme

the combine never crossed my mind

LOL tis is the week : Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff and head coach Mike Smith will lead the Atlanta Falcons’ group that is headed to the National Football League scouting combine today. Players come in on WED.

All week we should get a feel for what their looking at in the draft, hopefully aleast who they interveiw.

I don't like Coby Fleener. He's not the same athlete that Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham are. He's tall, but that's it.

It's a close race, but none of TE's really stand out to me. Dwayne Allen is a safe pick and Orson Charles could easily take the top spot in my opinion, but I'm finding myself becoming more and more infatuated with Ladarius Green.

Man the Stanford guy could be a steal. I don't see how we could pass him up if he is on the board at our pick. He could well be the reason luck is going number 1. 6'6 if I'm not mistaken. A year behind TG. We could strike literal gold

do you know what literal means?

I do, figuratively speaking.

If we make the big splash in FA that some of us are expecting then I am cool with taking a 2nd round TE.

The last second round TE we took worked out pretty well for us.

We just gotta have some big hits in FA

We get LT, C, a good DT and fill whatever our FA departures turn out to be...and TD can draft whoever he wants far as I am concerned. TE, CB and another RB figure to be needs at that point.

I've been liking Ladarius Green for a while now. I wanted to grab him in the 5th round, but I think he's going to move up the boards.
