Ranking: Top 50 Qbs In The Nfl. Where Is Matt Ryan?

Recommended Posts

Here's how I would rank the current top 50 QB's. Of course there are only 32 starting QB's in the NFL and with rookies coming in it's obvious that some of these guys are going to be back-ups and what-not. However, these are the most eligible QB's fit to lead a team currently.

I've taken pretty much all parameters into account. Consistency, contribution to wins, experience, athletic ability, injuries, and etc.

(The *'s are upcoming free agents and the +'s are QB's that I believe have the best chance at increasing their value next season.)

01. Aaron Rodgers, Packers

I think so. The reason why I made A, B, and C list is because I believe those QB's are a lot closer to each other than the rest in that tier. Honestly, there's not a whole lot that separates Tony Romo, who I ranked 7th from Matthew Stafford, who I ranked 12th. They're very close in my opinion.

Now, Joe Flacco and Jay Cutler... I think there is a clear dividing line between them and the QB's I put in the A list.

Vick had an outside shot at the MVP last season and he did not have a bad season by any standards last year.

And seriously? You're going to act like he's not a dangerous athlete? I don't care if you don't like the guy or don't agree with him, but to undermine his athleticism and running ability is absurd. He's the best rushing QB of all time.

Dharma comes into every thread and makes ridiculous statements, it's all good :)

No Brian Hoyer?

I wanted to put Brian Hoyer and Josh Johson in, but I felt more obligated to include Colin Kaepernick and Ryan Mallet and I wanted to make it a clean 50. Realistically, I would have a list of 52 and Brian Hoyer would be at #49, Josh Johnson at #50, Colin Kaepernick at #51, and Ryan Mallett at #52. The only reason they're so low is because they are practically rookies with little to no playing time at the professional level. However, I feel that Kaepernick and Mallett have a much higher potential than Hoyer and Johnson, so I wanted to put them on the list.

Not Dangerous:

Oh this is fun.

He never before, and never will after have another year anything close to that.

People want to knock Ryan for his playoff losses. But MV hasn't won a playoff game going on 8 years

I'm not knocking Matt Ryan for anything I think he is a good QB and cant wait until the day that we can put him on the top of that list. You made the idiotic statement that Vick hasn't been dangerous since 2006 and I proved it false.

Not really. 14-10 in 2 seasons isn't exactly dangerous. 39 passing TD's, 20 INT's, 10 rushing TD's, 20 fumbles in that time. Not exactly lighting it up where it counts. At least he's fun to watch though.

And that's what he's equated to since 2006

I clearly listed more parameters than that buddy. I placed Vick higher, because he's more dangerous. You might not agree with the list, but surely you would agree that they should both be ranked in the same category.

You know, Vick started AND completed 10 games last year- missed 3 games entirely. Hard to be dangerous when you're not playing. Think that was Dharma's point. At some point, every single person defending Vick says " if he stays healthy for a full season" Well, he won't- he missed 3 games in 10, 4 games in 11, though he didn't always miss games here, he was always too beat up to be effective by the second half of the year.

I don't believe he's ever played in 16 games in a season

I like where Matt Ryan is on this list. He would be higher if the Oline was better and the recievers didn't have butterfingers. Seriosly. We would have been 12-4 if the recievers caught the ball. We woul have had the Texans game, and the first Bucs game back.

Don't forget the Saints game.

I think Ryan should be placed where he is. I would put Peyton Manning above Ryan (yes, Manning can still ball) and consider moving Schaub a spot lower. Stafford outperformed Ryan in pretty much evern category...by a lot. It's hard to make a case about him being below Ryan. Stafford, as of now, is a better QB. He has the intangibles that Ryan has, plus a better deep ball.

So was this posted?

Alas my friend, you were "almost" correct in your evaluation but, you made a critical error! You forgot that a gifted athlete with a rocket arm only makes for "a gifted athlete with a rocket arm"! It does NOT make for an intelligent student of the game that has mastered reading defenses and the nuances of the game (see: NFL quarterback "definition" and "with coaching futures" i.e. Peyton Manning and Matt Ryan). Stafford does NOT repeat, does NOT have these same abilities (see: Michael Vick "fast athlete with a rocket arm"). wink.png

To the OP's question, "Where is Matt Ryan?" He is the quarterback for the Falcons now and in the future. Be prepared for his new contract and he will not lose it to illegal activity. Get over it.

What are you talking about? I'm quite literally confused. Get over what? By "Where is Matt Ryan?" I meant where is Matt Ryan placed on that list.
