Because they moved up in the 2011 draft to draft WR Julio Jones, the Falcons are without a first- and a fourth-round pick in 2012. The only way for Atlanta to select prior to the 23rd pick in the second round is to trade up. Falcons RapidReports

Miami OG Brandon Washington has paid his dues as a pass protector at the college level and since Atlanta had issues protecting QB Matt Ryan at times in 2011, Washington will get a look in the second round. >>Atlanta could use some depth on the offensive line<<

No - Atlanta could use a STARTER on the offensive line

TD signs Marcus McNiell, LT SD Chargers, after they release him. There is our LT.

Going by his performance last preseason, and his being able to recover from his injury for over seven months now, OG Mike Johnson, I figure, stands to start at RG. If Johnson does not project as being starter capable, we do have to address this position. But for now RG is taken care of.

That leaves center, a player who might take over for McClure halfway thru the season or so. Seems to me, we can get that guy in the second or third round of this draft.

This is the best, most cap efficient scenario I can come up with. Gives us money to sign a pass rusher or DT in FA. Then we use our other high draft pick on whatever FA does not bring.

Considering where we are and what we need Marcus McNeill would be an excellent FA signing....Auburn (and Cedar Grove HS in Decatur) kid comes back closer to home.......

Now that you said this, I wouldn't be surprised if we signed McNeil, we let Johnson win the RG spot. He was drafted to play, not sit on the bench. That would be ideal

We could definitely use both Brewster and Jackson on our O-line....especially Brewster, to replace the aging McClure at center.

And I would be ecstatic if somehow DE, Vinny Curry were to fall to us in the 2nd. If he doesn't, I think he'd be worth doing some "wheeling and dealing" to acquire. It would solidify our DE position for a long time.

I just hope we get some veteran help on the O-line through FA.....that would open up the draft a whole lot more for us this year...

Lets not forget about Andrew Jackson at guard. He was a possible early round pick who fell to the 7th round due to his injury. Pat Hill coached him at Fresno so he knows what the kid is capable of. I would much rather let the youngsters battle it out than throw 9 million at Carl Nicks.

Yeah, I can see us letting Johnson, Hawley and Jackson battle it out for RG this offseason.

We can sign McNeil or Gaither or Bell in FA to play LT. All three are injury risks, but I just don't see any better options at the moment.

Then we can spend our 2nd and 3rd round picks on a C of the future and a TE or RB to groom for 2013.
