Quizztorris
Here are some 2012 franchise tag values by position I stumbled across:Figures for next season by position and players who could be impactedQuarterback: $14.4 million (down from $16.1 million in 2011, $16.4 million in 2010); Drew BreesRunning back: $7.7 million (down from $9.6 million in 2011, $8.2 million in 2010); Matt Forte, Ray RiceWide receiver: $9.4 million (down from 11.4 million in 2011, $9.5 million in 2010); DeSean Jackson, Vincent Jackson*, Steve Johnson, Wes WelkerTight end: $5.4 million (down from $7.3 million in 2011, $5.9 million in 2010); Fred Davis, Jermichael FinleyOffensive line: $9.4 million (down from $10.1 million in 2011, $10.7 million in 2010);Ben Grubbs, Carl NicksDefensive end: $10.6 million (down from $13 million in 2011, $12.4 million in 2010); Jason Jones, Mario Williams*Defensive tackle: $7.9 million (down from $12.5 million in 2011; it was $7 million in 2010); Paul Soliai*Linebacker: $8.8 million (down from $10.1 million in 2011, $9.7 million in 2010);Stephen TullochCornerback: $10.6 million (down from $13.5 million in 2011; tag was $9.6 million in 2010); Cortland Finnegan, Brent GrimesSafety: $6.2 million (down from $8.8 million in 2011, $6.5 million in 2010); LaRon LandryThe two names I hear mostly thrown around as far as bringing back are Lofton and Grimes. However, I think both are concerns as far as signing to long term contracts. Grimes with his age, and Lofton because we don't know how he's going to adapt to Nolan's system. The more important factor there is age in my opinion. I can't see us signing Grimes to a long term contract at 29. Although it's going to cost more, I'd have to say we tag Grimes and sign Lofton. What do ya'll think?
Master Exploder
You're concerned that Lofton will have issues under a new DC?
Xx FaLcOhoLiC Xx
Mario Williams will get the franchise tag from Houston. I read his interview where he wants to stay in Houston because he believes they are a few plays away from the Super Bowl

I read his interview where he wants to stay in Houston because he believes they are a few plays away from the Super BowlOf course he's going to say that. The money just isn't in Houston for them to keep him. They would have to absolutely work wonders in order to actually resign him. He's going to hit the open market and he's probably going to get a 100 million dollar contract, unless he takes a sizeable discount to play for a competitor. Xx FaLcOhoLiC Xx
They'll tag him and then back load a contract for Foster so they'll both be able to stay
Xx FaLcOhoLiC Xx
I just read where the Texans only have 3.3 million in cap space? How will they be able to keep Foster or Williams? If the numbers are true then they may very well lose both. I'd LOVE to have Foster on this team!

I'd LOVE to have Foster on this team!Their top priority has to be getting Foster back and with the little amount of cap space they have, I just don't see Williams being worth gutting the team for. Especially with Brooks Reed and Connor Barwin playing quite well in Mario's absence this past season.
Trouble
They'll tag him and then back load a contract for Foster so they'll both be able to stayThey are not gonna get a back loaded contract done with Williams. He is gonna make a ton of cash and its gonna be spread out w/ guarantees. Every team with the money will consider Williams this offseason, he wont be a Texan next season.
