Falconsfan567
How would you like to see the Braves lineup this year? For me this is it.1. Micheal Bourn - CF2. Jason Heyward - RF3. Brian McCann - C4. Dan Uggla - 2B5. Chipper Jones - 3B6. Freddie Freeman - 1B7. Martin Prado - LF8. Tyler Pasternicky - SSI'm never been big on the lefty/righty crap that Bobby was always using as does Fredi. If you can hit you can hit as far as I'm concerned. It's one of the reason's Prado never has had walk or strikeout totals. Once we got Bourn last year Prado changed his approach and was trying to work deep counts to give Bourn a chance to steal and Prado's production suffered greatly because of that. Heyward on the other hand hit 2nd a ton in 2010 and posted very good numbers there epescially in April and May 2010 when Heyward was 100% healthy. I don't think Heyward batted 2nd during April and May. His move to the 2 spot marked when his production began to decline. He was best in the back of the order with little pressure and he could be himself. ATLBrave
Heyward moved to that spot right around when he got hurt in 2010, but produced very, very well there in July and August (.400+ OBP, and about a .910 OPS). Tailed off in September, but still had good numbers there. Until he's put in a true run-producing slot like the 3 or 4 hole, batting 2nd is what's best for him. He's a great base runner with good speed, and his approach fits the spot perfectly.

I have spent the past couple of weeks watching Braves games from April and May of 2010 and in most of those Heyward was batting 2nd. Heyward spent 100 games [461 plate appearances] in 2010 batting 2nd which was by far the most spot he batted in and he posted a slash line of .281/.393/.430.He had unbelievable numbers batting 6th in 2010 but the sample size was so small it's not enough to make a real judgement off of.http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.cgi?id=heywaja01&year=2010&t=b

ugadawg
Big difference from what many fans think should be and what will be.will beBournPradoChipperMacUgglaFreemanHeyPastshould beBournChipMacUgglaFreemanPradoHeyPasPrado had injuries and sickness that messed his game up not hitting behind Bourn. He is a great contact hitter and hits the other way very well. I like Chip in the 2 because he is our best situation hitter. While most of you will disagree Heyward needs time to just get back in the flow then he can be moved back to where he ultimately needs to be in the 3 hole "if" he returns to form. Still a great contact hitterChipper is a good option for the 2 hole but I like Heyward there best mostly because of his asset as a great baserunner. Heyward can score on anything in the gap from 1st and Heyward at his best draws a lot of walks. Could you imagine if McCann, Uggla, Chipper and Freeman actually got the chance to hit with runners on base?Uggla hit a ton of homeruns last year [36] but nearly all of them were solo because he never had anyone on best in front of him. He was either always hitting with 2 outs or leading off an inning. 16 of Uggla's 36 homeruns came when leading off an inning last year. 23 of his homeruns came with nobody on base. That's how you can have 36 homeruns but only 82 RBIs.
