Snafu
Novel concept, I know. Young, fast and talented. Keep him home TD.
1989Fan
if it isnt him it will be Weems IMO.Eddie Royal is a guy i like as well. he was great in Denver until they started playing a QB who can only make 1 read then run.I hate to say I am intrigued by the idea of Moss running go routes on the outside opposite of White and Jones in the slot on 3WR sets though. 1989Fan
you guys are right that he likely wont get it done.I just picture the 'Patriots' Moss, and realize that likely wont be the reality. For the record, HD83 is the guy I want back! vel
Moss would be the worst signing ever. He is a cancer, a disease, a thorn, and any other cliche you can think of.I would love Moss...for Madden! Lol but seriously he would probably be the best paper signing for us of the offseason but worst actual signing of TD's tenure, potentially ever.I thought about it briefly, the sight of Roddy, Julio, Moss, Tony, and HD all on the same field in the no huddle. It would be torture for any defense and I truly won't rule it out (<5% possibility) due to the NE connection and TD being there with him. But I don't even see how he fits and him with Roddy would be awful for Ryan with out a Super Bowl.

Hustle Up
I want HD back, they would be stupid to let him go. If they let him go I better see Desean Jackson replacing him and nobody else.

DJax is getting franchised by PHI if he doesnt agree to a deal. And he would never get 7M or a so a year here to be a #3 WR.HD OR Weems will be brought back as the slot guy and KR/PR. falconidae
Fortunately for the Falcons, this is NOT the year to be a FA WR- Bowe, Jackson, Colston, Welker, Jackson, Johnson, Wayne, Lloyd, Robinson are all FAs.HD's best deal may very well be here. If the Falcons convince him that Koetter will actually use a slot reciever, he may decide this is the best place for him.

Jacksonreally of the list, the most likely to hit UFA are: Colston, V. Jackson, R. Wayne, maybe L. Robinson.I think that Welker, Lloyd will be retained. Not sure which Johnson is in your list? If the Falcons convince him that Koetter will actually use a slot reciever, he may decide this is the best place for him. That's one thing a lot of people don't realize when it comes to FA. Even with the trading Roddy talk, why trade for a 30 year old WR or sign a unproven slot WR when you have so much to choose from in FA and in the draft. HD will be back for about the same contract James Jones got, but hopefully for a little longer as I think he will become a big part of the offense and then we will have to give a new contract again. Roddy isn't going anywhere.Same with Grimes almost. Yes, PFF has him as the best corner available. But I'd dare say Finnegan, Rogers, and Carr are ahead of him around the NFL. Yes corners are a premium nowadays, but I don't see teams lining up drooling for Grimes like we think. That means, if the biggest contract is the size of Joseph's last year (5yr, $48.75MM), then Grimes will be back for about the mid-$30MM range over 5 years. Very reasonable, especially if he wants to be here. I don't care he "sat out" the playoff game, it was a very smart business decision and I am pretty sure TD will see it that way and not as a smack in the face. He only has a little bit of leverage and could have lost it by playing.Lofton shouldn't be too expensive and Abe should be really cheap (less than the $7M HOFer Tony G got)
X-Man21
If they don't resign Douglas, then I would be fine with us signing Eddie Royal.
Dharma Initiative
Falconidae has a great point. Douglas will be in a similar situation to Snelling where he might explore to get a bigger role but the influx of FA receivers will keep his price down. And I think we lock him up for a few years at least. The guy is from Jonesboro so maybe he'll want to stay anyways

(flame suit on)I think Royal is the perfect upgrade. I like HD, but I'm sick of the press some give him an other mediocre players on this team. This is the reason we have not won in the playoffs. We don't have enought "go to", "get it done" type players. 39 receptions, 498 yards, and 1 TD is good, but if you are going to bring him back for more than 1 year, you better be sure that can turn into 50 catches, 675 yards and 5 TD's. If you don't think he is capable, then look for an upgrade if possible.I know you can't get upgrades at DE, LOT, OC, OG, RB, CB, FS and LB with only one pick in the 2nd and 3rd being your hightest this year. However, go upgrade what you can vs. staying with what is just ok. WR is one place you can upgrade this year during free agency, offensive line and RB, not so much. The draft is a better spot for those positions.I bet Eddie Royal would love to get out of Denver and come back east. Sure Teabow got a win in the playoffs, but 11 catches after 59 the year before, somethign is wrong with that picture. If the Saints bring back Colston, I would go for Robert Meachem in a heart beat. I know I've seen him drop some balls, but his size/speed and production is better that HD, its an upgrade that should not cost an arm and a leg, he is not going to be paid like a number one. He may even be able to step in as Roddy slows down.
falconsd56
I would like HD back but I would not be opposed to bringing in a guy like Royal even if we do.With White,, Jones, and HD that is among the better trios in football but one injury and our WR corp gets THIN.Another speed type guy would be a big benefit to us .Depth is the answer. wook21
I wonder if we didnt use HD on purpose to keep value on the market under the radar and then turn him loose once we get him resgned, smart move if it works but i think it will be a team that will offer more money to him and he might walk, the only thing we have going is he is from here and loves the team so keep our fingers crossed

MM just couldn't figure out how to use more than 2 WRs and 1 TE at a time. HD is a good slot WR, he just had limited value in the scheme MM employed. MattRyanProvesYouWrong
Everytime he got the ball in his hands, my first initial response was "Wow, that kid is fast, why don't we use him more".I'd love to see us use a slot receiver more, even as a check-down guy, I think this guy could have the ball in his hands on a screen and do it more effectively than any other receiver we have.
