isproab
I would not call him overrated. You don't rush for 1300+ in back to back years and be overrated. I think its more of a function of our line. When you can't get a 4th and 1 or a 3rd and 1 and there are at least 2 games where that cost you, I put it on the O-line. They need to be more consistent giving turner a hole or lane to run through.I will say Turner is not dynamic enough to give our running game an added dimension. He is a see the hole, hit the hole type of back. If there is no hole, then there is a big problem.

DirtyBirdDynasty
Turner is very underrated. He is so good and consistent that he doesn't seem to be mentioned at all really. The only negative I can say is that at playoff time he looks slow because he's already carried it 300 times thanks to the coaching staff. That's also when our bad Oline meets good D lines. If I had to pick a single player most responsible for taking this team from a bad one to a consistently good one it's Turner. HouseofEuphoria
No.Overrated is Adrian Peterson, whose numbers have steadily declined since 2008, whose never led his team to success, who would be much easier to game plan against than a big bruiser like Turner, and who just blew out his ACL.....and yet everyone thinks if he hit the market that 31 other teams would be fighting for his services. The grass is not always greener. Edited February 12, 2012 by HouseofEuphoria
synaptic apoptosis
he is very good at what he does, but he is not a complete back. He can not take it the distance once he gets to the second level; he can't get to the edge; and he has little to no value in the passing game. He has become progressively hesitant since he became a falcon. Personally, I see more value in trading him than keeping him. He somewhat handcuffs the team because of his predictability when he is in the backfield. I am not sayig he is worthless, but I do believe he has become more of a goal line back over the past few years.
DirtyBirdDynasty
2008 16 games 1699 yds 17 TDs 376 carries2009 11 games 871 yds 10 TDs 178 carries2010 16 games 1371 yds 12 TDs 334 carries2011 16 games 1340 yds 11 TDs 301 carriesHe's 29 and is signed through 2013. I feel he would be far more effective come playoff time if we reduced his carries to around 200 or 175 in the regular season. Hopefully Rodgers can be more effective in his second yearAs a rookie Rodgers had 57 carries for only 205 yards, a 3.6 avg with a long run of 13, and 1 TD. He picked up 15 first downs and lost a fumble. He caught 21 passes for 188 yards a avg of 9.0 with 7 first downs and a TD. He's only 22 and should be better and stronger in his 2nd year, he's got a good build for a small RB like a mini MJD. Hopefully he can account for about 100 carries and 30 passes, maybe more if he can handle pass protection and be the main RB in passing situations.Back to Turner, whenever he gets his momentum going downhill he's going to get positive yardage and if he gets to the 2nd level DBs dont get in front on him. With improved OL play he could be even more productive.

apl2g
I think he is. He has good to great games against poor teams or poor run defenses. People look at his final year numbers and say he's good, but against the better teams when we need him to really step up he disappears most of the time. He is a good RB but a little overrated IMO. raysnill1
apparently it's very easy to lead the league in running into stacked boxes, gain yards after contact & average 10 TDs a season all while being used in a capacity that renders you completely one dimensional. guys like that come a dime a dozen I hear. TheFatboi
What I don't get is how ppl say he's great against weak teams and disappears against good teams. First your supposed to crush a weaker opponent. Second, what back just runs thru the top run defenses in the nfl. Baltimore and Pitt gave gone on streaks of not allowing 100 yard rushers. But at the same time nobody looks at our D when we keep top backs under 100 yards. What back destroys good run D's Everytime they play one?? Don't worry...I'll wait!! Even with that pitiful line this year, he still racked up 1340 yards. Dudes a beast and I don't know why people want him gone...

paulitik
Definitely not overrated, but people complain about Matt not taking the next step in big games, Turner doesn't even show up. I'd like to see a little more anger and fire in his game. Too many things have to be going right for him to have a great game. Same could be said about Roddy, and Matt to a degree. He's still probably a top 10 RB in the league. If he could get around the edge and be more effective in the passing game, he'd be a HOF type RB. Falconsfan567
Cris Collinsworth said something about Brandon Jacobs that applies to Michael Turner. He said that there are times when Jacob spends too much time dancing in the backfield waiting for a whole to open up instead of using his strength and just trying to run people over. Michael Turner is the same way. If there isn't a hole immediately Turner is useless. Most backs are but other backs are good enough to make something out of nothing. Turner isn't overrated but he's not elite either.
