X-Man21
Too many penalties and killed opportunities to get off the field I say no to any raider as of late, and we already have our share of bad flags.
#1 pick
He's not that good. Average. He is good for depth but bad for anything else.
Creative
If we let Grimes go, he could be a decent replacement if Owens returns to sucking.
Falkonator
Say no to Routte, he is an average CB with 4.3 speed. Pass plz.
hjerry
I'm impressed. This news was out almost two whole hours before someone asked if we should sign him.

HouseofEuphoria
I dont think there is one player i would want from the Raiders entire team. They have not drafted well in over 20 years, and with the exception of a couple RBs, the team is full of FAs and garbage. Any player that had promise was damaged by a weak development program and bad work environment. The only bright side i see here is that most players in Oakland would do anything to get out of there and into a more healthy professional environment. No offense to any Raiders fans that may be lurking. kane#7
I don't know how he did this year but two years ago he made Aso expendable....Look at his stats from 2010 they are insane... (Passer rating vs. number of passes his way).
Creative
You guys act like being an average CB is a bad thing.. Edited February 10, 2012 by Creative
Falkonator
And then look at his stats from this last season. I rather keep Owens than get Routte.
kane#7
Stanford Routt, Oakland Raiders: 39.4%, 39 burns on 99 targets, 635 yards, 5 TD, 13 passes defensedA lot of people thought the Raiders were nuts for giving Routt a first- and third-round tender and then signing him to a large contract extension, but the numbers and the game tape will tell you that Routt lived up to that validation after a difficult start to his career. Of course, the question is whether he will be able to take over that Oakland secondary with Asomugha almost certainly out the door. Early indications are positive. He had a very good 2010.http://sports.yahoo....?urn=nfl,wp2995I talked to Routt about the recent "Burn Rate" statistic used to designate which cornerbacks were most and least efficient though the 2010 season. The statistic, which divides receptions by targets, showed that Routt was the second-best cornerback in the league last season with 50 or more passes in his direction — he allowed just 39 completions on 99 targets (39.4%) for 635 yards, five touchdowns, and 13 passes defensed.http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/higher-education-stanford-routt-and-the-touchdowns-that-werent-his-fault?urn=nfl,wp3180 Edited February 10, 2012 by kane#

atljbo
JasonLaCanfora Jason La Canfora I'd expect Routt to do alright on the open market. Oakland had a lot of scheme issues a year ago. Entire defense suffered
Swift&Change
He is actually not that bad.. Id still rather have Grimes but he is type of corner that could fit Nolan scheme also has a chip on shoulder now after the release..(def a cap move)
J-RoC770
Yes, I'll take him if Grimes goes but Grimes isn't, so no.
Psychic Gibbon
He's a PI/defensive holding waiting to happen.
SBorBust
So you guys watch tape of every player? All these strong opinions seems like you all have a large sample size to judge him on. Can you pass some tape my way?
Knight of God
Yeah, no we don't want him as much as we think. He's fast, but he gets beat more than you'd think. Penalty nightmare. Maybe nickel. Heck at 6'2" 200lbs maybe even free safety...hmmm...

Falkonator
i see they might also release Michael Huff, i would b interested to see if we could bring huff in
Master Exploder
He's not a bad CB. I wouldn't be opposed to having him on the roster, but he should be right up there with Brandon Carr, Courtland Finnegan, and Brent Grimes in terms of value in the open market at that position. Which basically means he's probably going to be seeking a substantial payday. If we don't re-sign Brent Grimes, then I see no reason why we would pick up any other "top flight" CB available in the free agent market. I know a lot of Raiders fans really appreciated him, and are questioning his release from the organization.I wouldn't mind bringing him in, if Grimes leaves.Saying that you don't want him because he is a Raider, or that you wouldn't want to sign anybody from the Raiders (or any other organization for that matter), is a great way of missing available talent. We should at least look at him. Edited February 10, 2012 by niels petersen
wilco
Routt's penalties last year: 8 Defensive Holding, 7 D Pass Interference, 1 Illegal Use of Hands and 1 Personal Foul.Pass!
Peyton
The best thing about Routt being released is that having another good CB on the market, and he is good, will bring down the price for all of the free agent CBs.
