jfalconsp
Okay I know, I'm already on 3.0 & 3.1 and we're still a month outside of FA. I feel like I'm constantly trying to update the roster with different scenarios to see where we could go so I figured I'd share. I'm going to show two different scenarios, one more realistic and one that is a little more optimistic. I included the numbers in both, so it's not like I just threw out names without backing it up with the finances. And I'm not including any trades of personnel or draft picks. We'll start with the more realistic.3.0Atlanta Falcons~ saw an article stating Falcons around 28 mil under cap that was going to be annouced this week;Cut Baker (3 mil), extend Matt Ryan (4 mil), restructure Dunta (2 mil), cut Ovie (3 mil), cut Garrett Reynolds (575k)40.575 mil cap spaceFalcons FA Signings:Curtis Lofton- 5 years, 30 million; 5 mil cap hitBrent Grimes- 6 years, 47 million; 6 mil cap hitHarry Douglas- 3 years, 9 million; 2 mil cap hitKroy Biermann- 2 years, 4 million; 1 mil cap hitMike Cox- 2 years, 1 mil; 500k cap hitJames Sanders- 2 years, 3 mil; 1.5 mil cap hitMichael Palmer- ERFA; 600k cap hitAntone Smith- ERFA; 600k cap hitVance Walker- RFA; 600k cap hitTodd McClure- 2 years, 3 million; 1 mil cap hitZelenka- 2 years, 1 mil; 500k cap hitThomas Decoud- 2 years, 5 million; 2 mil cap hitOther Signings:Robert Mathis- 4 years, 24 milion; 5 mil cap hitMichael Griffin- 4 years, 28 million; 5 mil cap hitJared Gaither- 3 years, 14 million; 3 mil cap hitAubrayo Franklin- 2 years, 8 million; 3 mil cap hitDraft: 3.3 mil2nd round- Kevin Zeitler, OG3rd round- Brandon Boykin, CB5th round- Brandon Brooks, OG6th round- FB6th round (compensatory)- WR7th round- Austin Davis, QBDepth Chart:QB- Matt Ryan, Austin Davis, JPWRB- Michael Turner, Jacquizz Rodgers, Antone Smith, Dimitri NanceWR- Roddy White, Julio Jones, Harry Douglas, Kerry Meier, Kevin Cone/WRFB- Mike Cox/FBLT- Jared Gaither, Will SvitekLG- Justin Blalock, Brandon BrooksC- Todd McClure, Joe HawleyRG- Kevin Zeitler, Mike JohnsonRT- Tyson Clabo, Will SvitekTE- Tony Gonzalez, Michael PalmerRE- Robert Mathis, Lawerence SidburyDT- Corey Peters, Aubrayo Franklin, Jonathan Babineaux, Peria Jerry, Vance WalkerLE- Ray Edwards, Kroy Biermann, Cliff MatthewsLB- Sean Weatherspoon, Curtis Lofton, Akeem Dent, Stephen Nicolas, Spencer AdkinsCB- Brent Grimes, Dunta Robinson, Brandon Boykin, Dominique Franks, Chris Owens, Darrin WallsFS- Michael Griffin, Thomas Decoud, Shann SchillingerSS- William Moore, James SandersK- Matt BryantP- Matt BosherLS- Zelenka53/53 roster spots filledMaintained: LB, DEUpgrades: LT, FS, OG, DTShortcomings: TE, FB3.1Atlanta Falcons~ saw an article stating Falcons around 28 mil under cap that was going to be annouced this week;Cut Baker (3 mil), extend Matt Ryan (4 mil), restructure Dunta (2 mil), cut Garrett Reynolds (575k), cut Jon Babs (5 mil)42.575 mil cap spaceFalcons FA Signings:Curtis Lofton- 5 years, 30 million; 5 mil cap hitHarry Douglas- 3 years, 9 million; 2 mil cap hitThomas Decoud- 2 years, 5 million; 2 mil cap hitZelenka- 2 years, 1 million; 500k cap hitVance Walker- RFA; 600k cap hitAntone Smith- ERFA; 600k cap hitMichael Palmer- ERFA; 600k cap hitJames Sanders- 2 years, 3 million; 1 mil cap hitTodd McClure- 2 years, 3 million; 1 mil cap hitKroy Biermann- 2 years, 4 million; 1 mil cap hitOther FA Signings:Mario Williams- 6 years, 85 million; 12 mil cap hit (Julius Peppers- 6 years, 84 mil contract)Ben Grubbs- 5 years, 32 million; 6 mil cap hit (Marshal Yanda- 5 years, 32.5 mil contract)Jared Gaither- 3 years, 14 million; 3 mil cap hitAubrayo Franklin- 2 years, 8 million; 3 mil cap hitChanning Crowder- 1 year, 1 mil; 1 mil cap hitDraft- 3.3 mil2nd round- Dwayne Allen, TE or Coby Fleener, TE3rd round- Brandon Boykin, CB5th round- FS6th round- QB6th round (compensatory)- FB7th round- WRQB- Matt Ryan, QB, JPWRB- Michael Turner, Jacquizz Rodgers, Antone Smith, Dimitri NanceWR- Roddy White, Julio Jones, Harry Douglas, Kerry Meier, WR/Kevin ConeFB- Ovie Mughelli, FBLT- Jared Gaither, Will SvitekLG- Justin Blalock, Mike JohnsonC- Todd McClure, Joe HawleyRG- Ben Grubbs, Mike Johnson/Joe HawleyRT- Tyson Clabo, Will SvitekTE- Tony Gonzalez, Dwayne Allen/Coby Fleener, Michael PalmerRE- Mario Williams, Lawerence SidburyDT- Corey Peters, Aubrayo Franklin, Peria Jerry, Vance WalkerLE- Ray Edwards, Kroy Biermann, Cliff MatthewsLB- Sean Weatherspoon, Curtis Lofton, Stephen Nicolas, Channing Crowder, Akeem Dent, Spencer AdkinsCB- Dunta Robinson, Chris Owens, Dominique Franks, Brandon Boykin, Darrin WallsFS- Thomas Decoud, Shann Schillinger, FSSS- William Moore, James SandersK- Matt BryantP- Matt BosherLS- ZelenkaMaintained: LB, DTUpgrades: DE, LT, OG, TEShortcomings: FS, CBEnjoy! crankdatfalcon
Like the 3.1 better...but as far as the draft picks go, id take orson charles, tight end from UGA instead of the tight ends you have, but id stick with your 3rd round pick in boykin, thats if he makes it to the 3rd round.also, why cut babs???and no mention of grimes.. Babs didn't really produce as much last year and he's set to make a big salary, so cap casualty. I would rather cut him over Turner or Ovie honestly. X-Man21
Although 3.0 sounds more realistic to me I like 3.1 better, especially the draft, however I do not favor the Gaithers move he is injury prone and I would rather the griffin in the safety spot move just for more depth and experience. Del-Falcon21
Man I like them both!!! But if I had to pick 3.1 all day! Great job!

I think Nicks will be too expensive and I wanted to do something a little different from the mock before that where we address OG in the 2nd round. I thought about using that money to go after a huge NT/DT, but I think that Franklin would be serviceable for much less. You could use that money to go after Griffen if you wanted or pick up another CB. It would be nice to have a proven OG though that can come in and produce. Herr Doktor
Back up QB scares me in both scenarios. JPW is average. And having a rookie not named Schaub really scares me. The rest? I'd think we did pretty **** good.

Last year is the only year he has had much trouble with injuries and he is probably our most productive returrning d-lineman. We would be taking a big risk that Peria would finally come through for us. Ovie is probably the best bet to be cut among the three.

Herr Doktor
Peria Jerry. The enigma. Every fiber in my being says cut him, injuries have taken their toll and in a nutshell, he is a never was. But they must see SOMETHING in him to keep prolonging the experiment. I just wish I knew what it was. Maybe he has pictures of people with farm animals?
