whitekb011
I believe one of the Deals TD will do this offseason, will be to re-do Ryan's deal.Think about it -- Ryan is going to be here for a while, he is a good QB, all the intangibles, like the rest of the team, they need to figure out how to win. With that, Ryan's value is low right now due to his playoff record. If he goes out and blows it up next year, wins a playoff game, and possibly makes it to the NFC Championship Game, his price will double, more importantly, his guaranteed money will go up.I say you do a 6 year deal now and put incentives in the contract while his value is lower than what I believe it will be next year. It also takes away all the distraction of him playing in a contract year.
markdzul
I for one agree with you. Matt will make his cash, and despite what a lot of disenchanted fans and (for lack of better terminology "Trolls") have to say, Will be here for a "VERY" long time. Pay the man a reasonable contract with bonus for performance and playoff success. Most importantly if possible structure the contract to help us with cap room.... hunchie00
I have to agree this would help out alot but I dont think he is the only one that should take a pay cut for the team there are other people that should do the same... but I dont know alot about the cap situation except what I read on here..and from what i read on here its pretty bad... FootballRealist
No chance of that happening ..Matt Ryan has not proven he can be a Super Bowl winning QB . 0-3 in playoffs . We have 2 more years left on deal plus we can always use franchise tag . We shall see if Ryan is just a regular season QB that doesnt have skill set to win a Lombardi so we wait these next 2 years out . If he helps leads us to a NFC title game next 2 years then we can work with a extentsion until then let him play out rookie contract
hunchie00
I can see what you mean if we got him for two more years we can let him play this year out and see where that takes us and we can always lock him up if things are looking up during the season

Look at SF this year. Look at Giants -- Good Defense, Good Offense, Good Special teams. NE Defense is playing good now, Offense is good (played like crap last week), and I can't remember when a NE Special Teams unit made a mistake at the wrong time (ala San Fran, twice).Take the two years now, add 4, give him a bonus, spread it out over the six, you create instant cap room. His Cap Hit is ~11.5M, I think.

Outside winning rookie of the year and a pro bowl alternative Ryan does not have any personal accomplishments that should provide him with a new contract . Since you are disregarding playoff wins as a team accomplishment you should do the same with regular season wins
whitekb011
so then what are his personal accomplishments ? Since you are disregarding playoff wins as a team accomplishment you should do the same with regular season winsI understand what you are saying, but his market value is low right now. I'm betting he will lead us to a playoff win next season. I'm betting he will succeed, but I want to lock him up now, on his performance to date. Aftermath
I wouldn't say his value is low, probably 24+ teams that would kill to have Ryan a QB.

Who on earth do you think Ryan is?He, until he proves otherwise, is nothing but an average player who built some decent stats when playing sub standard teams. I'm fine with that, have a feeling you are the glass half empty type of guy though.

Enough to win those playoff games, we see this type of stuff from almost every player each year on the last year of their contract and they play better because of it; most players that get those big deals don't live up to the money offered most of the time because of all the pressure that an organization brings to the table to bring a guy in. (i.e. Ray Edwards,Dunta Robinson) so I feel that on his last year of his current contract Matty may have the best season of his career thus far. ATLBrave
Jaguars, Jets, Colts (assuming Manning is done), Redskins, Dolphins, Chiefs, Browns, Broncos, 49ers, Seahawks, Cardinals, Vikings, Bucs. You could add the Rams, Ravens, Titans, Bills, and Bengals as well (Ryan is better than any QB those teams have as of right now). That's 13 teams without the additional teams, and 18 with them.
