Predictions For The Falcons 2012

Recommended Posts

Here is a simple list, and feel free my Falcons Friends/Fans to add to it, or dispute it.

Or that is, things THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN! OR WILL? Predictions? What's your thoughts on this stuff?

MY LIST:

#1 Peyton Manning Will not be an Atlanta Falcon, EVER! Forget that! Matt Ryan's got thing under control.

#2: : Forget about Albert Hayensworth, the dude is way overrated and got payed way too soon before he had to earn what he got. JMO.

#3 : Grimes will be gone, who needs a short CB in this new REALISTIC defensive scheme. Yeah, he's been a character, much like the old number 7, but it's all about WINNING at this point. We need somebody who can play the game at CB instead of hoping they aren't out reached. Grimes is short, I don't care how high he can jump, it's a wish game everytime he covers a big WR, Not to mention he is a given at not being able to stunt a slant WR off the line because of his size. JMO......

#4 : Michael Turner IMO isn't going anywhere. Are you people serious with the trade and dismantle the offense by doing such a thing? :Are you kidding me? You don't dismantle an offense and hope when you know you've got a premier RB on offense that CONSIDERING "THE POSSIBLE NEW OFFENSIVE SCHEME MIGHT JUST HAVE ANOTHER BREAK OUT YEAR".

#5 : Harry Douglass will be used in the slot, as he should be used! That is if he is signed to a new contract. if not I believe Quizz will end up in the slot. Perhaps I am reaching a bit there but he has shown he needs to be used more in the passing game instead of just the running game.

Thoughts?

TD will vow to shave his head if we make it to the SB. Gonna be one bald MOFO .......Spoon will be the barber .......smile.png

I'll tell you right now, I was a believer in Spoon from the start. Although I'm not going to lie and say I wasn't a believer in P. Jerry. I really thought he'd come back strong this year. Would I be wrong as a fan to consider giving P. Jerry one more year to recover? I'm asking because I though 2011 was going to be his year. I'm thinking it's time to move on and find somebody big to collapse the middle. Maybe I'm wrong but that's just my opinion.

LOL! There's no way Roddy goes anywhere. Some might say that a lot of his drops had to do with timing routes that were disrupted because of the O-lines inability to protect Matt Ryan long enough to complete the play. Other's will say "Such as myself" that the OC was the problem.

I really don't think Roddy is going anywhere, I mean why would you trade so much to get more explosive in 2011 in the passing game and the very next year get rid of the previous years most explosive WR? Doesn't make sense to me. Just my opinion though.

Nice tag.

LOL! I'm sorry, I fixed it, I had a friend drop by right when I was finishing the start of this thread and left the room for a second and come back and didn't notice that. I thought it was funny but removed it because I don't think the Admins will think so.

For curious minds it said "Male Wh4" as a tag, ofcourse the second word was spelled different, I'll leave it to you to figure it out. And I hope that's ok to post here. Trust me, I'm working on a payback joke, it's all in good fun either way.

F*ck that, I wanna win our first SB IN the Superdump!

Edit:

I believe Ryan will get 4500+ passing yards.

If HD stays he will get an 800 APY

Quizz will get 700 APY

JJ and Roddy break 1100 yds

Tony G will go off in his final year and break 1000 receiving yds

Kerry Meier scores a touchdown (0.0)

@ Saints...Loss

@Chargers...Win

@Chiefs...Loss(Surprise loss of the season)

@Lions...Win

@Redskins...Win

Final Record: 12-4(maybe 11-5/13-3)

Falcons face Cardinals in the GA Dome in the 1st round of playoffs as the 3rd/4th seed, and finally win. Pressure is lifted from Ryan and he begins to break out at the right time.

We then travel to Philly and beat the Iggles convincingly in the divisional round.

We host the NFCCG against the Detroit Lions and proceed to win Superbowl 47 against the Ravens/Jets.

This is only if the offense is clicking. I believe the defense can play well enough for the offense to win games. These predictions will probably be changed after the preseason. As long as we have this group of players I will pick us to win the SB every season, and the next season would be the perfect chance that I really don't want to give up. I want to see one of the hardest working players get a ring in his final tenure as a Falcon, and I want to see Saints fans/players sitting on their couches watching a divisional rival hoist the Lombardi on their home turf.

Next season can't get here fast enough.

I think the Falcons will "FLY" in 2012, none of that RISE UP BS! Falcons need to "FLY"! , In my youth I would have said "Fly H IGH", but not now.

Thoughts?

#1) Agree

#2)Agreed He is just a big tub of goo!

#3)so you are sayin get rid of our best cover CB and replace him with who? Burn me all day Franks? Brees would love to hear that!

#4)The Burner has digressed into just an average RB. You could find his replacement easily in this draft. RBs are not a big priority these days. You can find a RB with more speed just as big and much better hands. Trade him for a 3rd round pick(might even get a 3rd and say a 5th) Thats not dismantling the O just getting it better.

#5)Lets hope and pray

Draft

2nd round

Chris Polk*, RB, Washington

Height: 5-11. Weight: 224.

Projected 40 Time: 4.46.

Arm: 30 7/8. Hand: 9 3/4.

Polk, who had a strong 2011 season, runs with good vision, cutting ability and hits the hole quickly. He runs behind his pads and can power through defenders. Washington has had a subpar offensive line, and if Polk had better blocking, he could have even better numbers. The benefit to that line is the 5-foot-11, 222-pounder is a very patient runner who knows how to put defenders on blockers. This year, Polk ran for 1,488 yards (5.1 average) and 12 touchdowns. He also snagged 31 passes for 332 yards and four scores. Polk ran well against Stanford, one of the best defenses in the Pac-12. He had 144 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns versus the Cardinal.

3rd round

Ryan Miller, G, Colorado

Height: 6-8. Weight: 310.

Projected 40 Time: 5.25.

Miller had a strong senior season with some impressive games. He showed the ability to be a forceful run blocker. Miller is a very good athlete and has excellent quickness to fire out of his stance to get to the second level. He anchors well in the pass rush and has the mobility to slide with defenders. Miller has the skill set to get some consideration at right tackle. He had an impressive game against Washington.

3rd round

Philip Blake, C, Baylor

Height: 6-2. Weight: 312.

Projected 40 Time: 5.58.

Arm: 31 7/8. Hand: 9 3/4.

Throughout 2011, Blake was an excellent pass protector for Robert Griffin III, and opened up holes in the ground game for running back Terrance Ganaway. Blake is a good athlete for his size. He has the strength to push tackles aside and surprising quickness to hit blocks on linebackers. For the past two years, Blake has been the starter at center, having begun his collegiate career at tackle. To close out 2011, he had a lot of success going against Washington Huskies defensive tackle Alameda Ta'amu in the Alamo Bowl. The Baylor Bears were able to have a massive game on the ground to the tune of 482 yards. In the NFL, Blake would probably fit best in a power man blocking scheme.

5th round

George Bryan, TE, N.C. State

Height: 6-5. Weight: 265.

Projected 40 Time: 4.77.

Bryan had 33 receptions for 331 yards and four touchdowns in 2011. He was a good blocker this year and could be one of the better blocking tight ends in this draft class. Bryan showed some receiving skills in the East-West Shrine workouts and that helped his stock.

6th and 7th rounds

I'll add my list of predictions. Some I like and others I don't. But these are the things I "believe" will happen, not necessarily what I "want" to happen.

Curtis Lofton will be re-signed (like). Abraham will be re-signed (like). Weems will be re-signed (depends on contract). McClure will be re-signed (like).

Harry Douglas will not be re-signed (don't like). Grimes will not be re-signed (don't like, but understand the money issue).

Baker will be cut (like).

Turner will be traded (don't like).

We will have 2 new OL, one through Free Agency, one through the draft (like). Jared Gaither will be a Falcon.

We will sign Rashean Mathis (like). I know some people don't like this move, but it makes too much sense when I think about it. We are installing a new defensive scheme with a DC that uses press coverage. Mathis is a veteran CB. He plays press coverage. He's big at 6'1". Our coaches are familiar with the Jags defensive players as we've practiced with them a lot over the past few seasons. He is coming off a down year where he sustained an injury. He will be much less expensive than most of the other CB's out there. We don't have enough cap to sign a top tier CB, and he fits our new scheme better than the other 2nd and 3rd tier CB's available.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it, those things take time and aren't easy to come by. I am referring to your previous reply, I didn't quote it here because it contains a lot of good information about players.

As for the #3 reply , Yeah I say get rid of him, he's too short, in man on man coverage which wasn't an option with the previous DC and will probably be one Grimes will get burnt because if bump and run is called against some big WR he's going to get ran over IMO. He doesn't have the size.

Grimes should have played basketball as a guard instead of football IMO. Yeah he can jump high and block passes? What happens when he needs to block somebody really big on a bump and run? He get's ran over, exploited on the field. JMO.

Hey, I thought Grimes done an ok Job for the Falcons, but unlike some of you here I'm not going to put him on a pedestal and say he was awesome, he was Average if you wanna know the truth, the Falcons schemes were THAT BAD. I just don't think Grimes fits in this new Falcons defense from what I have heard about how it might work. But hey, who am I to say, we shall see. If Grimes is here then I will support him because he's a Falcon, if not then so be it.

I think the money would be better spent on obtaining a great O-Line player for the Falcons. JMO.

I like almost everything you are saying here, that would be cool IMO! That is with the exception that you failed to mention what you would do with the O-line. Turner I doubt will be going anywhere. The O-line needs to be fixed, that is unless you are figuring that Thomas D. will fix the O-line in free agency?

Eitherway, I like the way you are thinking except for those couple of idea's there. Heck, it's predictions, if the Falcons win a Superbowl and that happens then I hope you are right!

My predictions:

Falcons 11-12 victories, at least one playoff victory.

D is top five in points allowed. Spoon and Moore lead the way.

We'll realize how poorly the previous position coaches developed talent when we see players like Sidbury & Meier take large roles in the team.

HD stays[ unless given an insane amount of money] and flourishes in the new offense.

CB, RG & C positions will all be filled by current falcons.

LT in FA, DT in first two picks.

Fan favorites like Baker, Decoud, Owens & Jerry will all be given another year under new systems. Baker may not make it through TC depending on health.

Ryan will take another step towards eliteness with 4500-4800 yards, 30+ TDs, 8+ YPA, 62%+ completion rate and playoff win.

Offense diversified with targets taken from White & Gonzo, carries from Turner. 4th, 5th , 6th 7th options in passing game get targets, catches and TDs. Big 3- Gonzo, White & Jones still get their numbers, just not as many.

Excellent thoughts there. I dunno about HD though. I think under a new OC with the right offense he'd be great, either in the slot of as a WR. But then again considering the way the Falcons used Quiizz toward the end of the season he might be better. I dunno. We shall see.

You brought up a serious excellent point about position coaches talent and the players that are here already for the Falcons!

If it's a Superbowl win that's cool with me. At this point, honestly as a Falcons fan a playoff win means nothing, they've had multiple chances, they need to go to the final showdown IMO. Anything less is not worth watching IMO. It's SUPERBOWL OR BUST for the 2012 Falcons Campaign.

I don't like this building blocks of a team taking things step by step as a fan as something acceptable and ok to cheer for. What are we supposed to do next? Hope for ONE PLAYOFF WIN? Or let me guess, get to the superbowl? WOW! What a bunch of BS! If building a team was that easy every owner would do such things. RISE UP is wrong! FALCONS FLY!!! If they aren't flying they are just hoping by rising up. JMO.

Anything less than a Falcons SuperBowl win in the 2012 season IMO will be disappointing.
