hiawasseefalcon
Ironic that we hire a new oline coach that comes from one of the most screen heavy offenses in college football. He WILL improve our pass blocking and screen blocking.Folks here is the bottom line.If we want to run more screens....AT LEAST on one side of the field, we need to upgrade at center and right guard.Just take a few minutes and youtube:Patriots Screen PlaysScreen Play TDetc.Watch nothing but the center and screen side guard. McClure at C (while experienced and a solid run blocker) is old and too slow to get out and run like good screen centers need to.Hawley can run screens. (Check the ONE screen we ran vs. the Titans to Roddy White)Link: http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-fantasy/09000d5d8244e9cb/QB-Ryan-to-WR-White-32-yd-passBlalock is a bulldozer for run blocking....not running down field. He limits us running screens to the left. The tackles are not used as much in screens to RB's, but VERY important in WR screens (like the one to Roddy in which Clabo DID get down field nicely). Typically on a screen to the RB though, the tackles show pass and let the DE's get far upfield. Svitek and Baker SUCK at both pass blocking and screens.SO...........If you want to run screens...........You get a new LT that can both pass block and only run WR screens to the left.Keep Blalock to run block and double the nose. He limits you to WR screens on the left though.Move Hawley to Center and hope he can screen block to the right like he did you the White play.GET a NEW STUD RG so you can run RB screens to the right.Keep Clabo so you can run WR screens to the right. Steel City Falcon
Yea I noticed that too.. The only question is what running back do they have that can be effective in the screen game like that? Rogers? Or do they draft someone else. Obviously it's not going to be Turner. tobyd77
They ran a screen pretty well to me so I know they can ran screens well.http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011090154/2011/PRE4/ravens@falcons#menu=highlights&tab=recap Edited January 29, 2012 by tobyd77
MattRyan2Canton
MattRyan2Canton here, well they better get some more athleticism on the line then.
PokerSteve
MattRyan2Canton here, well they better get some more athleticism on the line then.I am pretty confident getting more athleticism on the OL is going to be one of TD's top priorities this off-season. If we don't have at least 3 new OL, I'll be shocked.

Guest Dirty Bird Nation ®
They might have hired Hill to help Andrew Jackson develop.
falcon057
Can they teach Turner to catch the ball out of the back field?
LADBABY
Can they teach Turner to catch the ball out of the back field?I have been calling for him to come in at 235 lb. and with lots of off-seasonreps on screen passes. If he is at a lighter weight then he should be betterable to respond to the ball. As it stands right now he is a guy who has to haveit laid in to him perfect to catch it.He has not worked on catching passes much under Mularkey. If he works on ithe will get better than he is currently. How good that may be is anybody's guess. He may be pretty good at it with more reps. So he needs to do that and give himselfa chance in this new offense.
