rightsaidfred
I just saw that , and was going to start a thread.I can't believe that TB is going with a college guy. A team that young needs an NFL vet coach - with at least some level of pro experience. The Glaziers just won't open their wallet(s). Sad for TB fans............ Falcon Man™
BTW, epic fall off by Raheem this past season compared to being considered for COY honors just 1 year earlier...EDIT: Raheem just turned down a job offering from the Vikings as DC. jb 3.0
Compared to the guys they've interviewed, I think Schiano may be the best move.Nobody's gonna be running out to buy season tickets, That's for sure. But, if this guy can keep this crew motivated and Dom does his job we may be able to win more than 4 games next season!

I just feel like with a first time NFL coach being thrust into the HC job, there has to be a learning curve. I could be wrong. I'm more than willing to give the guy a chance. Have I got wood about this hire? No! (Viagra not withstanding) But, would you rather have Sherman? Childress? The ONLY other coach they interviewed that I know of that would have gotten me excited was Mike Zimmer and the fact that he's been coaching the Bengals defense takes a bit of the luster off him. Anyone that coached under Marv Lewis is questionable as to their gender. Marv Lewis is the BIGGEST little girl in the NFL! ThunderCookie
I dunno. The Petrino hire did wonders for the Falcons! After he was gone we went from horrible to slightly above average over night!Of course, you have to hope your coach quits before the end of the year, but it is totally worth it! jungleking
Ray Rice respects him. Don't see why the other players won't. Not a great hire, but I don't think it's awful. Perhaps below-average. Harbaugh's looking pretty good in SF right now.

You folks go ahead and knock the move, I'm gonna take a wait & see attitude. I've seen what can happen when you get too high or too down on a coach. Morris burned us BUC fans BIG TIME! I'll never get too high on a coach again...until he's hoisting the Lombardi Trophy!I see Schiano as a MUCH better hire than Chip Kelly and at least we didn't go with Sherman! jb 3.0
Schiano’s ability to motivate and discipline his players extended beyond the football field. While producing victories at a rate unprecedented in the program’s history, the Rutgers football team also committed fully to succeeding in the classroom. In 2010, Rutgers’ football program ranked first in the nation in Academic Progress Rate; in 2011, the team followed up with the nation’s number-two ranking.Evidently he's a bit brighter than Rah.http://www.buccaneer...72-48d601a07080 Edited January 26, 2012 by jb.
