falcon057
The more i think about who we have as free agents and bad contracts we could feild a strong 3/4 with the money (abe 10 mill and 6 mill babs) needed to fill the holes. Timing couldn't be better. Peters and Edwards as ends. sign a FA NT with walker and jerry as back-up. Draft a LB with Sid and Mathews standing up. what do you think? clownorg
I'm a fan of the 3-4, but I'm not sure we have the personnel for it and would take too long to draft/sign the right personnel. Nolan could run a **** good 4-3 and bring heat
ilikerugby
maybe not next season (2012). but perhaps he'll draft some mid/late-round 3-4 players this year or something and perhaps make a switch to 3-4 if possible. just maybe
freebird310
Not gonna happen, but we gonna see some 3-4 looks, who knows if the plan is to transistion eventually, is all just speculation at this point.
The Falcon Jedi Knight
Considering how our 4-3 hasnt done crap, and considering Nolan has made his name designing 3-4 defenses, I dont see why we just dont start migrating to a 3-4. I know Nolan worked with 4-3 systems long ago but Nolan built his reputation with his 3-4 schemes. We've drafted and built 4-3 all these years, but they havent worked. Just make the change-over now, and get it over with. We're going to lose Abraham anyway, Edwards whatever. Draft a fat NT and move Babs and Peters to DE, move Bierman/Sidbury to OLB, keep Spoon and Lofton as ILB.
metatron360
In the second get a nost tackle so we can have some 3-4 looks to see who can mesh. I think it's coming but the transition will likely take 2-3 years. Ths year we will have a base 4-3 and in the second round there will be some quality nt to be had. falcon057
If we don't, and keep Abe at 8 mii down from 10 mil to play 20% of the snaps at 35. We keep Babs at 31 with decreasing #'s 47- 27 - 21 tackles to sacks 6 - 4 - 1 at 6 mil. Heck 14 mil will get a fine NT and FS and back ups for a 3/4. Timing of these contracts and cost to me makes sense. Edited January 26, 2012 by falcon057
1989Fan
I agree IF the team were ever to make the move, now would be the time.We have a great 3-4 coach, and most the players who dont fit are either UFA or on the chopping block anyways like Jerry and Babs (only if we went 3-4 due to his $6M or so hit)Honestly he isnt a big fat boy, but Peters could play the NT spot IMO, due to his strength and ability to take on double teams. Reminds me of how Ratliff does it in DAL @ 295 lbs, he started at 285 or so there. Worst case, he can play the DE, but he doesnt have the ideal length.Let's see what we would realistically need in the front 7.RE - EdwardsNT - Peters, WalkerLE - OLB - WeatherspoonILB - LoftonILB - DentOLB - Sidbury?(IMO would need a good OLB like Spencer or A. Brooks)So either a starting DE or NT, depending where you see Peters fitting and a starting OLB. Possibly a 2nd starting DE, depending on how the staff feels Edwards fits. I think he would play well there honestly.
Steel City Falcon
Peters and wouldn't hold up as a 34 end..
falken
In Miami thay transitioned over to the 3-4 over his first season.I could very well see us in the 4-3 on 1st and 2nd down while shifting to 3-4 on obvious passing downs against some quarterbacks. LookAboutFalcon
We would be better off having a base 4-2-
Voice of Reason
We would be better off having a base 4-2-5A base 4-2-5 is nothing more than a Nickel defense. Teams would gash us endlessly if we ran that as a base.

momak
We dont have the personnel yet to play 3 - 4Wait till we see who we pick up in free agency and the draft and then see.
Durrtay
We should run a hybrid this year to see who fits in the 3-4 and who doesn't
Lord Draakus
The way players are cycled these days I see no reason why we cant run a Hybrid 4-3/3-4. If only just to confuse the **** outta the competitonLifes a game U gotta play it while U can!!!!!!!!!
cnasty
Tell Babs to gain 20lbs in the offseason. Happens all the time. Peters on one end MAYBE Edwards (or Jerry ) on the other end. Babs at 315-320-ish could be a pleasant surprise. Just thinking out loud here.Discuss.
Free Radical
We would be better off having a base 4-2-5You mean the standard nickel defense we ran over %50 of the time last year... the one that practically has been our base defense?
