ATLFalcon36
Assuming we let Dancing DeCoud go, who is available in the FA market to replace him and hopefully be a huge upgrade?I can't see us drafting anyone in the 2nd at safety and TD would have to hit the ball out of the park to get a FS in the 3rd that could start from Day One plus with our other needs on the O-line being probably more urgent.Any suggestions? freebird310
Dont know if we will get a FA FS, but IMO if we just cut DeCoud and plug Sanders in at free, that in itself would be a major upgrade .....
MattRyan2Canton
i can't think of a superbowl champion without a dominant safety.
vdove0926
In an attacking defense I think Goldon makes a lot of sense.
jdub051082
I would like to take Landry but he's injury prone and probably will not be able to get him cheap. However, if Decoud coverage was better he would be a better safety. We could resign Sanders for less money probably/maybe.

jfalconsp
I wouldn't mind Michael Griffin.
vel
True ball hawk Free Safety. Would patrol the deep half of the field and let Moore roam the intermediate. Has the speed and range to do it without looking like and idiot like DeCoud. Very aggressive but smart. Would be a great fit in Mike Nolan's scheme. 17 career INTs. MattRyan2Canton
does he have the potential to dominate at the safety position? that's what great teams have.

1989Fan
Michael Griffin seems like the most complete FS that may become availabel.I highly doubt Golston makes it to the market, but if he did, I would give him whatever he wants. He will ge tagged if he isnt re-signed before UFA period hits.He is a banger and great cover guy. This team really needs a top FS to sure up it's coverage. We keep talking about upgrading the CB spot, but IMO FS is much more of a weakness....even w/o Grimes. I like Franks as a starting CB more than DeCoud as a starting safety! ATLFalcon36
I like the sound of Griffin.I loved Landry coming out of college but it seems like he's more of a workout warrior who can't stay healthy and really isn't all that good. 1989Fan
anything he wants huh?in terms of paying a starting safety, sure.He will likely beocme the highest payed FS in the league this offseason, or at least coming close to what Weddle got.Safeties are getting paid more like corners now, and rightfully so. Rai
i'm not sure what to think about Goldson. QBs have a higher rating into his coverage than they have into DeCoud's.

Knight of God
I like Griffen, but you guys DO know that he is inconsistent right?
vel
Goldson isn't leaving. The Titans won't be able to keep both Griffin and Finnegan. They were playing Griffin more in the box and he didn't like it. If we threw him a 5yr $35M contract, a little under what Weddle is worth, he could come and it would be reasonable. That is top safety money. Ed Reed's contract had him making $7M a year. Polamalu was making $9M. Roman Harper is making $7M. Just some references. I think Griffin and Gaither would be 2 great pick ups that wouldn't break the bank and fill 2 big holes and let us build up in the draft at other positions. ATLFalcon36
I like Griffen, but you guys DO know that he is inconsistent right? Is he a boom or bust safety? Sort of how D-Hall was on the falcons. He'd either get beat or make a pick on an overthrow or something? Haven't seen a lot of him TBH. Haven't seen a lot of him TBH.I think it is more them playing him all over the place instead of just letting him be the FS. Yes he will make mistakes, but he will make more plays than mistakes. The options are either: DeCoud, Sanders, Griffin, or a rookie. I don't think there is another free agent FS that will be available and better. We already know DeCoud and Sanders, the rookie is an unknown. Griffin is a proven commodity. I want to take my chance with Griffin

He'd either get beat or make a pick on an overthrow or something? Haven't seen a lot of him TBH.No, I wouldn't say he's like Hall at all. I'd say he's more inconsistent in that he's had some really good seasons, and some mediocre seasons. The Titans didn't use him effectively this year, but I think he would respond really well in Nolan's scheme. He's also MUCH better in coverage than Dashon Goldson is (not that I wouldn't complain about Goldson if we got him).Griffen and Robert Mathis are the two defensive free agents I hope we go after. On offense, I want Jared Gaither or Demetrius Bell. Then in the draft we can go after interior offensive linemen and maybe a tight end.
