J-RoC770
Pocket presence and big balls to make plays under pressure. Matty is a smart qb but he plays too scared to make or force a throw in, 99.9% of the time he just panics and toss it out of bounds, whereas Eli will take chances to make plays. And that's what separates a promising qb and an elite one. Edited January 24, 2012 by J-RoC770

Also, Eli has been in the NFL longer than Ryan, Eli wasn't great at first it took a couple of years. I think Matty will get there. There will be improvement this year under a new, more aggressive OC. I am actually very excited about this upcomming year.

J-RoC770
Trust me I would still have Matt Ryan over anyone except Peyton, Brady, Eli, and Big Ben. He has the intangibles that qbs don't have. It's smart that he doesn't force throws and create turnovers but yet he needs to take that risk sometimes.Look at Alex Smith of SF, he couldn't take the pressure of being #1 pick overall and played scared and conservely but since the middle of last year and this year he's been playing with a reckless abandonment. It's true his defense is good but also he improved by not playing scared. Edited January 24, 2012 by J-RoC770
FalconsIn2012
Eli is an animal. I gained a ton of respect for him yesterday. He was beaten and battered repaeatedly throughout the game and continued to stand tall and deliver the ball while taking the shot. He must have been hit hard 20 times and still did not throw off his back foot. Hopefully ryan watched the game and took a long look in the mirror afterwards. I love Ryan, he just needs to understand it's ok to get your jersey dirty.

Knight of God
Eli has been in the league for 8 years and Matt Ryan 4Didn't Eli go to his first SB after 4yrs? Oh yeah, I forgot...its a pssing league. No, defense doesn't matter. Just messing with you guy, but yeah, you have to be balanced, it has 0 to do with years. The D and ST pretty much got them to the dance. If Ryan had that D we probably could have been there to. Ryan took over a turd and we are still building parts of it like the D. We are not a complete team yet.
FalconsIn2012
Matt can win a super bowl. He just requires a change in offensive philosophy and getting out of his comfort zone a bit. Enter Dirk Koetter.

Tallahassee
Eli has been in the league for 8 years and Matt Ryan 4Nailed it. He also lost his first 3 playoff games - even failed to score in the first one.He also had an incredible Def in his SuperBowl year.

vel
He needs Koetter to come in and instill that confidence in Ryan. MM did nothing of the sort. He actually reeled him in with those ultra safe outs, curls, and comebacks. Ryan can't squeeze and take the risk of throwing a deep post between two safeties if his OC is scared to draw that play up. We all want Ryan to make those elite QB throws but if he isn't given an opportunity to make the throw, it's nothing he can do to do it. Look at the routes Eli and Brady are throwing to and then look at the routes Ryan is throwing to. It's completely different.

He lacks toughness.Toughness. He was getting killed at the start of the season. He was predicted by most to be injured by week 6 if he kept taking hits like he was. Based off average for per hits before qbs get hurt (don't remember the number though). He might not have been sacked a ton later in the season but he was constantly under pressure. Even Blank saw that and said thats why the oline is a major priority.Yes our D gave them a fight and took it to them. Maybe they where trying to give BVG a going away present. But they tried but never have put together a full game onslaught like we needed. But if any of us was taking the hit and being chased like he was. We would get jumpy to. Brees and Rodgers get human and start looking average real fast when you get pressure on them. Edited January 24, 2012 by danight
kane#7
We can do this better not focus on the QBs...Difference between Giants and Falcons??? Pass Rush..
The Falcon Jedi Knight
Ryan's productivity feeds off everything else - O-Line, Turner, Play-Calling. Our Offense had total break-downs against good defenses all season. If our O-Line cant make 1 inch repeatedly, the problem starts there. Turner cant create holes for himself, he needs big gaps opened up for him. And few QBs in the NFL can throw the ball when the LT is a turnstyle. It's been coached out of him, it's Mularkey's fault for not trusting his QB more.
Dem Birds
Before 11 months ago that was the difference between Eli and Rodgers. Means very little in a head to head comparison.

mc
Lol. Eli had 4 dropped picks Sunday. Eli is a good qb but not any different than Ryan. When eli has pressure he turns the ball over. Eli even ran, slid and fumbled without anyone touching him against ealges in the playoffs last year.

Butudontseeme™
I have a ton of respect for Eli. I don't know if ANYONE realizes just how much pressure that dude has endured since coming into the league. 1.) playing with a pedigree. Dad being a former nfl player at the same position. 2.) older brother will probably retire as one of the greatest of all time, at the same position3.)ny is a pressure cooker for pro athletes. 4.) Tom coughlin.
