Ed Roland
Watching the games yesterday one thing I noticed on the top tier teams is how strong their front lines are in the trenches. I'm for one tired of watching our offensive & defensive lines get pushed around the field when we go up against a top tier teams. Blame it on lack of talent, maybe coaching, but at the very least let's get somebody in Flowery Branch who will motivate our players to hit the weight room and bulk up.Our current coach is all about pilates & core strength..... great if I'm a chick & want to workout at LA Fitness.... Let's get back to old school and go back to Free Weight training & carring logs up a hill...Case in point: Kroy Biermann. Luv the guy, great motor, undersized, but has small arms & legs... get you head out of Hollywood Kroy & drop the "skank". Hit the weight room please. norbendon
His name is Kroy. I don't think it's strength and conditioning as much as it has been our philosophy to draft smaller, quicker guys. Not one I totally agree with.

delaigle
didn't they just hire a new one last year ? or was it in 2010?ADDED I was wrong Jeff Fish has been here since 08 and his asst (John Beauchamin) since 09according to the Bios on AF.comI'm not so sure that's right, I'm almost positive they hired domeone in 2010 for strength and conditioning Edited January 23, 2012 by delaigle
Free Radical
I'll take years of medical science and researched training exercises by professionals over what you saw in a Rocky movie. The rah-rah garbage is for the simple minded. Edited January 23, 2012 by Free Radical
PeytonMannings Forehead
If anything the strength and conditioning program deserves kudos as a whole. The injury rate on this team is waaaaayyyy down compared to other teams across the league because of the focus on flexibility (among other things).Interesting article here: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/26/sports/football/falcons-have-winning-fitness-strategy.htmlMatt Ryan even credited them as the reason he was able to make it through this season taking hits like this... LADBABY
Our power outages increased when he arrived. I think it is a valid question.Kroy Biermann was said to be otherworldly in the weight room even comingout of college according to his college coach. He is a linebacker playing DE. Rex_Ryan is really reaching here. He doesn't appreciate the low injury rate. Our OLine doesn't dominate because we had 2 Centers playing all season. They aren't going to blow anybody off the ball. Get a REAL RG and then say something. When we had Dahl, nobody complained about getting pushed around because he didn't. He just wasn't the best pass blocker. These are NFL players. They are in great shape and plenty strong. If you've seen an NFL guy's workout, you wouldn't have created this thread. The fact that they don't get injured shows they are strong and in shape. Biermann is a bad example. He is a lightweight pass rush specialist, his frame is like Abe's. Look at Sidbury for example. He came in needing to bulk up. He definitely looks bigger now than he did as a rookie.

Ed Roland
Ok... Kroy... My bad... more coffee now! I do luv the kid and yes, playing in the wrong positon. TD hit on this late round pick...Still believe we need to get stronger & more powerful in the trenches.... small undersized-fast cut blockers... no thanks... I want hogs to control the line.I remember Herschel Walker's workouts in the off season were insane, but took him to the top... carrying logs up a steep hill at his old high school.... we need more of that

I really want McClure to be as good as everyone here says he is, but everytime we play a good D line he gets blasted into Turner's lap right after the snap, especially in short yardage. It's hard enough to convert on 3rd and 1 in this league with a monster Center, but with a guy like McClure it makes it almost impossible....as we have been witness to since he has been the starter here. Can anyone remember the last time we converted a 3rd or 4th and 1 against a really good team when it really mattered in the last 5-7+ years? There was actually a bleacher report article (All credibility already gone, I know) that said he was the 5th softest player in the league. Xx FaLcOhoLiC Xx
I know during the offseason of 2010-11, we did MMA training and conditioning with Randy Couture and went 13-3. Maybe we should look into that type of training again?
The Falcon Jedi Knight
ABSOLUTELY NOT!Our Strength/Conditioning Coach is FINE.
