THE ICEMAN
I'm going to do a Free agencey topic soon as what I think some of the off season moves could be, but that all depends on cap space as everybody knows and it may result in cutting players or letting them walk. But just trying to get a feel on what some of you'all think. My cuts have the * next to them*Dunta Robinson - 7.7 mil cap hitI don't think he been Bad but making that kind of money average to good just isn't going to cut it which I think the best word for his performance would be he been soild.Peria Jerry - 845,000 thousand cap hitAt this price I'd keep him he did show flashes and looked healthy put him with coach nolan and maybe we can get something out of him. I will say my first though was to cut him but for that kind of money I think he'll say its a tough call though.*Sam Baker -1.9 mil cap hitWe even moved him inside to OG at times and he still struggled he made this year missreable and he's gone.Jonathan Babineaux 5.9 mil cap hitI don't think I would cut him but if we could get and upgrade then he may have to get cut to make room.I think Babs is a good player but kind of in between good and elite and likley not to ever make a probowl he'll turn 31 this year not to bad for DT*Michael Turner - 8 mil cap hitI think Turner is still a very good RB and I wouldn't cut him unless I can replace him(Matt forte) but I think people do look at his stats and say Dam 1300 yards when at the end of the day he only averaged 4.5 yards a carry and can't catch the ball which really hurts the offense bad and lets say Jaquizz Rodgers comes in next year and shows he may not rush for 1500-1600 yards but instead rush for 1000 yards and have 500-600 recving yards then he as vaulable as turner was and your stuck with his 8 mil dollar cap hit that could've been Bradon.Carr or some else but that is a lot of "ifs" and the Falcons know best in how good Rodgers can be so if they think Rodgers is going to be a really good player then don't be shocked if they cut Turner. *Ray Edwards - 6 milIts depends on what kind of cap hit he would count against us going foward. If we could replace him with Robert Mathis then yea and at Mathis age and being from Ga it may be a fit. But I will say that this rotation thing the Falcons do is BS is really does nothing but hurt them and I think it hurt Edwards as he'd been a guy who played a lot of snaps plus he had knee surgery as well so I'm kind of inbetween cutting him and keeping him but if cutting him would hekp us get Mathis,Mario or Nicks then he gone.Let walkGrime,Aba maybe,Thomas DeCoud,Kroy Biermann,Eric Weems,Jason Snelling,Harry Douglas,The ones I would keep are Bolded and please remeber yea I'm letting some good players walk but they would be replace with good players as well and when I do my free agencey topic they may all not go you kind of have to figure up the contracts and what the cap will be which isn't easy when factoring in that a guy like Ryan could get a new contract which would make a huge difference.Just looking for some more info on what some of you'all feel would you cut anybody else?Remeber A lot of cuts made by teams are not based on performace always but more on what there cap hit is and are they worth? Minus Whale
Give Nolan a season to see if he can get some worth out of him.
Minus Whale
Turner is going to be an 8 million dollar cap hit? That would be awful.
The Don™
Dunta won't be going anywhere this offseason. Hopefully Nolan's scheme boosts everybody's performance on defense. Specifically focusing on Dunta I think a man coverage will help him...Also, I think Harry Douglas will be back...
Aftermath
Does this factor in cap penalties? think we would get hit with a 4M penalty if we cut Turner harry Dougie will be back most liekly
Trouble
Only person under contract we should let walk is Sam (i just got hurt again) Baker. The rest keep and worry about the FA`s we have. They already said around 50% wont be back so we don't need to redo the entire roster. Edited January 21, 2012 by danight

THE ICEMAN
And good RBs are eay to come by in the draft just look over the last couple of years

Trouble
I Think so.But if you cut lets say Turner and Robinson that would come real close to freeing up enough cap sapce for a guy like Carl NicksIn theory maybe. But thats a big gamble. You might cut Tuner and Drobget hit with the cap penalties then watch Nicks reigns with his team and we would be down 2 key starters as well as probably losing grimes and not a thing to show for it. Minus Whale
And good RBs are eay to come by in the draft just look over the last couple of yearsYou don't even need to draft them. Arian Foster is one of many examples.I think it is incredibly stupid to pay a RB a lot of money (lol @ tennessee) or to spend a high draft pick on one (lol @ NO).It is the easiest position to fill on a football team. I could probably go to Publix right now and find a running back.
THE ICEMAN
You wouldn't cut them intell there is a deal in place with Nicks or lets say Mario Williamsthats the point I'm try to get to you He11 no you cut them unless we could land a Franchise type of OG or DE and have a deal in place

THE ICEMAN
My pick would be Chris Polk in the 2nd and that kid Form Miami is really good as well Edited January 21, 2012 by joe 1982
THE ICEMAN
Nope cutting Robinson will happen I just don't see keeping a Average CB making that kind of Doeheres the link its a 7.7 million dollar cap hit if he stays and alot less if he gonehttp://www.spotrac.com/nfl/atlanta-falcons/dunta-robinson/My pick would be Chris Polk in the 2nd and that kid Form Miami is really good as well

You wanna pis-s the entire locker room off so they don't perform for the coaches? You just cant say your only a value to us if we cant find someone better, yet if we decided to keep you its because we respect you and wanna see you perform to your best.FA`s wont wanna come here if the franchise starts pulling stuff like that. You can kill team moral and might as well flush next season. We dont need to total start over, we need to improve and do things better and i think we can do that with alot of the players we have. hjerry
My pick would be Chris Polk in the 2nd and that kid Form Miami is really good as wellI want Polk in the 2nd and Darrell Scott in the 7th. We could easily be a better RB core than NO. Then resign Douglas and Weems. Teams wouldn't know where to defend. THE ICEMAN
Who would tell them? you get a deal in place and basicly say your the odd man out you didn't perform at a high enough level and we desided to make a chance its done all the time look at the pats I say they let go of a player or two over the years that could still play thats business. Optimus*Crimes
Stop it... Just Stop. No way they rebuild the entire team. We already have a TON of FAs, why in the world would we cut more people? This is just dumb...

That if he makes some big changes he'll make the right one as far cutting turner more than likley not but I do believe Robinson is gone
THE ICEMAN
Did the Niners gut their roster when they brought in the new coaching staff?Yes they did sign Braylon Edwards,(drafted) Aldon Smth,Donte Whitner and Carlos Rodgers they expected a lot more out of Edwards which they didn't get and cut him before the season was overSo like I said yes they added Two pro bowl players they didn't have that much to work with to start with besides that great defense witch they added to and the rest in just great coaching

Good old Rich was a **** of a trader. He did some wild deals like 3 way trades. I think TD is more a draft type of replace needs. I think we will go after 1 med named FA and do more replacing holes with either current players we have or through the draft.Super mario isnt happening.
