TroubleDawg
Only thing going in his favor is this is his first incident.Domestic Violence is a serious incident if he really did assault her in a serious manner. But he could have nudged her away with his elbow, and they could have considered that assault.Lets see what the facts say first.

RedandBlack4Life!
Georgia starting cornerback Sanders Commings arrested for domestic violencehttp://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/2012/01/21/georgia-starting-cornerback-sanders-commings-arrested-for-domestic-violence/1:19 pm January 21, 2012, by Chip TowersUPDATED . . .ATHENS – Georgia starting cornerback Sanders Commings was arrested overnight by University of Georgia police and booked on charges of domestic violence/simple battery, UGA police confirmed Saturday.Commings, 21, was booked into Athens-Clarke County Jail at 9:06 a.m. Saturday. He remains in police custody and no bond has been posted.UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson said his officers were flagged down a little after 1 a.m. by persons in a vehicle in downtown Athens. At that time the female victim and four witnesses were interviewed by police. Commings had left the scene.“Talking with [witnesses] there was some kind of interaction between [Commings] and a woman and they intervened,” Williamson said. “At some point in time he struck her. Based on the witness statements and interviews with the involved parties, that’s why he was arrested.”Williamson said officers then obtained a warrant from a magistrate judge. Commings was taken into custody later at his apartment.Williamson said Commings and the woman are in a relationship based on the charges.“With us going with domestic violence, it has to be a significant other,” he said. “They’re cohabitating in some way.”Commings, a rising senior from Augusta, is one of 10 starters slated to return on defense for the Bulldogs next season. He started all 14 games this past season and was tied for fourth on the team with 55 tackles. He also led the team in pass break-ups with 12 and had one interception. He has played in all but one game the past three seasons.Commings may have to remain in jail over the weekend. Under domestic violence law he must go before a judge before he can be released on bond.UGA spokesperson Claude Felton was not aware of Commings’ arrest when contacted by the AJC. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt, wouldn't you want the same.......I agree. I also hope that this was a misunderstanding and nothing more. If it was actually domestic violence, let's hope Sanders learns his lesson. I'm sure CMR and others will talk to him soon.

Cali Visionz
Come on Sanders, you have to be smarter than that. You're a NFL prospect ! Whatever the case may be...let her have it and walk away. There's no winning when it comes to disputes with women. point blank.
Billy Ocean
Not surprised the AJC has this as its top story."The top story in the sports section?", one might ask.No, the top story in the whole **** newspaper. I'm sure its the most important thing happening on earth right now.

SacFalcFan
stupid on his part for sure.. however with domestic issues you just don't know what happened even with a report. it's one of the toughest situations to handle on the part of the police. As soon as anything remotely negative happens at UGA, especially involving football in any way, it is the most important story they can possibly run with. I really wish the AJC would disappear. They don't cover important things well and they embellish on trivial matters.

Whether it is Georgia, Alabama, the Falcons, whatever, it is like Schultz is disgusted with sports in general and wants to take it out on everybody. Whether it is Georgia, Alabama, the Falcons, whatever, it is like Schultz is disgusted with sports in general and wants to take it out on everybody. The oldest e-mails I still have saved are from a 2003 correspondence that I had with late Sports Illustrated and ESPN Page 2 legend Ralph Wiley a year before he passed away. We were discussing the quality of sports journalism and I sent Wiley a piece that Schultz had written for the AJC. Lets just say that Wiley didn't hold back in his opinion of Schultz, and said opinion was even lower than this board's.Here's a who's who of sports journalism eulogizing the legend on ESPN's Page 2:Remembering Ralph WileyBack in Bill Simmons' early days he used to run columns like this of e-mail exchanges he had with Wiley:Simmons vs Wiley
chadtm77
I agree we definitely need to withhold judgement until all the facts are in. But the major problem with this and the fact that the rag paper In Atlanta put it on the main page is BAD is 2 weeks away and every kids parents that we are recruiting is going to see that tomorrow morning. This couldn't be any more bad timing for Sanders Commings or for the recruiting
good2badawg
i just read (not sure what the actualy truth is) that he did NOT hit the female, but the car. I would guess the one she was in. JunkyardDawgBlawgger
Reports from the ABH are that he did strike her in the face. In no way is it ok for a man to strike a woman in the face. I say kick him off the team, send a strong message to recruits, parents, and other players that this behavior will not stand. Unless it comes out that someone else hit her and he was blamed for it, and she admits it, then I say kick his *** to the curb. Any man that strikes a woman is a waste of life, to "strike" is to hit forcibly and deliberately with one's hand or a weapon or other implement. Pushing and restraining are different, they are defensive in nature.
