Ed Roland
Cannot wait until we play the Aints next year as these two masters go head to head and I have no doubt Nolan will be ready for the task. We hit a "home run" in the bottom of the ninth getting Nolan. In some ways Spags may...may have been an upgrade but he would have left us like a cheap date as soon as another HC job came his way...Its up to TD now to give Nolan the weapons he needs to build a "in your face" defense!Heck, I'm even warming up to Koetter now : ) Edited January 21, 2012 by Rex_Ryan
blackredfellow
It's gonna take a good DC to slow down N.O. Is Nolan the guy to do that? Not sure. We need some upgrades on D. With a new OC, that means at the VERY LEAST, a breath of fresh air, which should help tremendously. So I think we will be better on offense. If Nolan gets these guys playing Nolan ball, I think we match up a lot better with the Saints now. Just let the offense play loose, and adjust in-game. Let the D use their speed, because we have enough of that to be a better blitzing team (not just from the front 4, BVG).Bring the hurt, Nolan. BRING THE HURT! Pacific_Falcon
Simply put, Nolan has done more with less compared to Spags. Props to the FO hitting a home run with the DC hire. The first few weeks there will be growing pains until everyone gets on the same page...but we do need some upgrades. Nolan is good but to be a really good defense we need upgrades. Somehow we have to start getting some DEs first and foremost. I think thats where we start because I have a feeling Nolan is going to get DeCoud on the right track, same with Dunta.Iffy about Koetter but I think theres a chance he will utilize douglas and quizz and maybe even meier. Can we at least get him on the field and see what he can do. Make him the third string QB for **** sake.

He made some Finneran style catches in the preseason. So glad that vanilla MM offense is [hopefully] gone.

Karst41
we now have 2 very good DC's with one of them being the HC.The Problem as I see it is for Smitty to yield to the OC and let Koetterdo his thing.Sure we have a good running game, but the same plays over and over? Land Shark
I LOVE this hire. If you have a 3-4 mastermind in your organization, you will win the BIG games IMO.I know we're going to "be a 4-3 team this year, but we'll be in nickel and dime and run stop more than 3-4 most play EVERY year, so it's the philosopy that's now corrected.....and once we get teh LBs needed to go 3-4 when needed, LOOK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!I think Mike Smith saved his future here in Atlanta. JayOzOne
Nolan had a stout DL in Miami. Hopefully he can make our line comparable.
Ed Roland
I'm tired of watching our defensive line get pushed around week after week. Time to bring back the swagger to our defense.....DOWN AND DIRTY IN THE TRENCHES.... NO RETREAT.

Steel City Falcon
I'm more concerned about how the Nolan plans to slow Brees than their defense versus the Falcons offense.

Psychic Gibbon
"Epic Defensive Battles" require decent players on defensive.Of which both our teams are lacking....The Falcons have a good deal of talent on the defensive side of the ball. Nagging injuries and a bad DC made them look much worse than they actually are.
Steel City Falcon
I would think for an epic defensive battle both teams must have epic defensive players.
