Trouble
If tradition is anything to go off, we can probably expect 1 half rated FA.Personally i think we are crippled by our FA`s we need to resign and only way we can make a impact move is to lose a couple of our top FA`s.If you have to choose 1 person you think we may pursue who will it be? Lets be honest TD is not going after Super Mario. Most will agree Grimes will become to expensive for us to keep unless he works with us to keep him.So choose 1 and lets see if your right come next season. You can choose more than 2 if its not a high dollar player right now but we pay him.ex 1:1 pick for a current starter.2 picks for a backup that's with a team that we will take and make a starterex 2: we all know Grimes is gonna get payed big. So keeping him counts as our big move for this offseason.
Francis York Morgan
Gaither is big imho, but he'll get an inexpensive contract, made under 1 mil last year. Hopefully other teams don't see how good he is and we pick him up.I'd like to see us pick up Finnegan if we can't get Grimes. He'd be cheaper, and he's one of the nastiest man-cover corners we could possibly get.Landry would be amazing too, if he stayed healthy...that's a big if. Dunno how expensive he'd be.We might get Pat Sims or another big DT body for when we run the 3-4 part of what's likely to be a hybrid defense...he'll be cheap too.Everyone else is in the draft tbh...don't see us signing someone big like Nicks or Super Mario...Finnegan is the only one here I see being remotely expensive. Ga_spider
I like Marshawn Lynch. He has good hands and he made the Saints look terrible in the 2010 playoff game. Lynch could be Koetters new MJD. That said I'd let Snelling walk. I love the guy. But... Edited January 20, 2012 by Ga_spider

But...Lynch is the most underrated RB in the NFL aside from Fred Jackson, if we could get him - especially at a decent price - I'd actually be fine trading Turner, and that's saying a lot. Lynch is a straight up beast, he'd shred if we got a few more people on the line like Brooks and Gaither, and if Ovie was plowing the way for him...and with the weapons we have in the receiving game...giggity. Looks good. That would be the most expensive DB group in the NFL especially if we got Landry, wish I could see it happening but I don't...and yeah the Eagles are expensive too, but I just don't see this being realistic... Carl927
Minor free agency move #1: Dump Redman in favor of Garrard at backup QB.Major free agency move #1: Avoid Grimes and make a bid for Porter or Mathis, keeping a little in the kitty for Lofton. The Don™
I wanna see us make a run at Jared Gaithier or Ben Grubbs and Reggie Nelson, Dashon Goldson, or Mike Griffin.IDK if our salary cap will allow it but those guys seem like realistic targets

I was looking for decent bargain-basement CB's. Both are coming off injuries and down years and should be cheap. Re-signing Lofton is a must. Getting a few quality lineman is a must. Grimes isn't a must, imo. We're better with him, but not if it means losing out on bigger needs.

pzummo
Since you said we can pick more than 3 if they are inexpensive, here they are. These 3 guys collectively are probably going to be collectively paid about the same as what some team will give Grimes. 1. Jared Gaither - Instant upgrade at LT and his contract will not be that big since he's been on 3 different teams last season. The Chargers have a lot committed to McNeil at LT and it is HIGHLY unlikely that Gaither would choose to take a mediocre contract for them when he could go start somewhere else.2. Rashean Mathis - He's 31 years old, only 2 years older than Grimes. He's not as athletic, but he's bigger (6'1"), much more physical, and his pricetag will be a fraction of the cost to re-sign Grimes. He's coming off of an injury, but he's a lot more suited to play bump and run than Grimes and this is the best replacement for the cost. No, he's not nearly as good at this point in their respective careers. But if you can get him at a quarter of the price, he's well worth it. Grimes, Finnegan, Rogers, Porter, Trufant, and Barber are some of the CB's available right now getting a lot more love than Mathis. I'm thinking he's not going to get much money, and Smittie has that Jags connection to bring him over.3. Amobi Okoye - This guy is only 24 years old. As far as I'm concerned, he's highly underrated. He had 4 sacks as a backup in Chicago last season. The only reason Houston let go of him was because they switched to the 3-4 and he's a 4-3 DT. In other words, he won't be demanding big money and only made $1.38m last season. If the Bears do not extend him, I would love to see him in the red and black. He's not the big NT everybody wants and is better suited at UT, but Babs is turning 31 this year and this could be his heir apparent. He would also be great to have in for Nickel and passing situations to pair up with Babs, Abe, and Edwards.

kiwifalcon
I'm ducking right here I understand we are going to use some 34 looks but as a base 43 is still our bread and butter and for me we need the nastiest SOB specialist 43 NT we can find.....Albert Haynesworth.....I no this is from the blue I don't no how much he has left but I want the guy that stood on Andre Gurode's head to please stand up I really think he can bring some good old fashion nastiness back to our defensive front which to me looks like is full of alot of nice guys..The guy I want Mario Williams I give that about a 25% chance though. Haynesworth for cheap Williams big contract and we some how resign abe, that will piss me off that we didn't get spags lol. That will be the best dline we had since Coleman, Abe, Kerney and Darryl Shropshire.
