JD dirtybird21
I don't know, I honestly think Nicks and Evans are a little overrated. Brees and Peyton get rid of the ball so quickly and run their offenses and call plays they know will work that their o lineman look like superstars. The Saints are smart to not re sign Nicks

Robb4242
He is another example of how you can find a great player in later rounds.problem is, in round one you have about an 88% chance on knocking it out of the park drafting an OL. The percentage chance in the 5th round is substantially reduced. You would probably be lucky to hit on 10% of the OL picks you made in the 5th round. So IMO, it's not impossible to hit later in the draft, but it is improbable. Better to fix the most pressing needs early on.
g-dawg
Reggie Nelson, Jared Gaither/Ben Grubbs, Brent Grimes, Curtis Lofton, John Abraham > Carl NicksIndividually, none of them are greater. Combined, all those together will cost way more than Nicks. You have no point.
falcon057
No one has really taken a stab at the 2nd part of my post. If we use Abe money to sign Nicks how will Mathews and Sid perform under Nolan? I believe he can get these guys up to speed and in the right place to be young studs. They have talent all they need is some coaching and the right system.

It's just a fair statement to say that not all good lines are built with high picks. Offensive lineman seem to be better when they have a chip on their shoulder from being drafted low. I would take a line full of first or second rounders any day though.
dshaw62
If you want Ben Grubbs, you obviously missed his performance today. He was abused!

falconidae
any rookies starting for the play off teams?no, they both have veteran Olines- don't think any of them have less than 6 years of experience.
falconidae
I have expressed my thoughts on what I expect to happen. Falcons fans would love to see the Saints lose Nicks as it would decimate the team. Further, Falcons fans would love to add Nick as it would be icing on the cake. I do not foresee any of this happen and believe strongly that Nicks will be in a Saints uniform. Beyond that, there's no sense in debating this further. Save this post, remember my thoughts, and be prepared to eat crow when Nicks is still playing for the Saints next season and beyond.Right, there's no chance that the Brees contract might be harder to get signed than you think, or no chance that someone pays Nick so much money that the Saints can't match. There's a good chance that it works out the way you say, but it ain't 100%.
