Showtyme8383
Huge Grimes fan here. He has worked his whole career to gain respect, which he deserves. I follow Grimes and his wife on twitter, and both were catching serious "Heat" from fans about why Brent didnt play in the wildcard game. Even I scratched my head and wondered. I think the fans should show some respect, especially if they want "Optimus Grimes" to return. However, like his wife said to the fans..."Keep it up". So my question is...does anybody know why he didnt play???
Sven
The dude benched himself to preserve his own interests because its his contract year.
Guest mashburn
after we gave him the name optimus bad things started to happen. I think his knee needs to be lubed up.The dude benched himself to preserve his own interests because its his contract year.and that really ticks me off. Guest TheIdowu
If I was him, I would have done the same thing AND THEN told myself phuck the fans. . . . I am pretty sure many a professional athlete have thought this (phuck the fans).
Carl927
He was coming off a potential career-ending injury and he was playing without a contract. He probably took the safe road.If he'd hurt himself badly, would the FO have paid him big bucks to ride the bench next year?
uup115
Can anybody prove this?...did the Falcons tell him that his contract would be out of their market? BVG was told something and took care of himself, like anybody would.
Trouble
I doubt it, he just played a few games before that. But we will lose him because CB`s are way over paid. We cant afford to keep him i dont think without losing another high paid talent to free up room.
Showtyme8383
The dude benched himself to preserve his own interests because its his contract year.Thats what my fear is. I mean, he really went to the organization and said..."Im not playing"?? If thats true...LET HIM WALK!!

fansince78
Grimes is great considering his height, but his asking price will be much higher than his actual worth. I don't see him in a Falcon uniform next season.

They only think about themselves and are being selfish, self-centered, and self-serving. It is easy to criticize when you are on the outside looking in. Until you've walked a mile in someone else's shoes, you cant say anything. No one here knows the situation. I fo' dayum sho' wouldn't risk a career-ending injury over a playoff game. This is my livelihood we're talking about; which is more important than a game.

Psychic Gibbon
The dude benched himself to preserve his own interests because its his contract year.I still don't understand why people keep saying this. It's not like a player can deactivate himself, that is a coaching decision. Still, he was only about a month off from knee surgery, only played in one game after the surgery and was likely rushed back since it was a huge divisional game, and there were genuine fears that if they tried to rush him back again he'd reaggravate the injury again. Playing him would have been a huge gamble that likely wouldn't have paid off, for the Falcons in that game or for Grimes' career.

Showtyme8383
That what happens when a pro gets a twitter account some weeks they get praised and some weeks they are blowed up by mad people. If they can't deal with the swings don't get a social account. That's a lame excuse for adults to act worse than children. I may as well stay at home and live in a bubble because engaging in social actitvities always run the risk of running into ignorant and dumb fools. Whatever happened to adults acting like adults and people having mutual respect each other and their property.LAMENESS
