The Most Important Thing Koetter Said

Dk said the thing that I wanted most to hear from him and I believe he understands his role with the team because of it.

" I’ve got to come in there and just do the best job that I can in trying to help everybody be the best that they can be."

All of the other stuff was pretty much what I expected to hear, but that one thing stood out to me and it is what we needed from Mularkey and never got.

When you have got the weapons that Atlanta has in the skill positions, both in the pass game and the run game, I think you’d be foolish not to take advantage of everything that has to offer. But there are various ways to get guys the ball. You have to get playmakers the ball with a chance to make plays. There are different ways to do that. Obviously, the no-huddle, the screen-game, the play-action game, but there is definitely a time and place to run the football.

Take notes, MM.

I liked when on the Coaches Corner video he used the phrase, "the other receiver runs a complementary route". If they can just start throwing passes to moving receivers, rather than come-backs, and curls, I will be happy.

Im excited about screens. I use them in madden with turner and quizz and i bust off big 20+ yard plays and it is key to me winning most of my online matches. . I watched all the games and didnt see us do this at all. The whole 32 rating scares me though.

He was entering a F1 race with a Buick Regal, nothing much he could've done.

Oh god. The day we start calling our offense based on what works against the other team in Madden is the day I retire as a Falcons fan.

He can't possibly be any less exciting than what we had. One thing is certain, with screens we can take some of the pressure off the O-line. Never could figure out why MM wouldn't use them, yet knew how pourous we are on the line. Maybe it came down to Turner not being solid at catching the ball. Who knows. I'm ready for anything different than what we had.

Make fun of Madden all you want, but the same philosophy that works in that game also works to an extent in real football. You throw to the WRs with single coverage, run screens to slow down the blitz, etc.
