ChessPlayer1
He knows the system, and could at least be a capable back up.He took the 2011 season off to have surgery on his herniated disk and prepare for the 2012season. He should be healthy now. Thoughts? Edited January 16, 2012 by ChessPlayer1
lasher1116
Absolutely NOT!....89 TD and 83 turnovers??? and you want this person why??????http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/3636/david-garrard
ChessPlayer1
He was not 100 percent while playing. Now he is healthy. I'm saying bring him in as a back up QB.He could help Ryan get up to speed with the new offense.

Herr Beast
Makes some sense but depends on the price. If we have to choose between Redman and Garrard for the same kind of money, I would take Garrard because he knows the system, has years of experience as a starter in the NFL and is a bit younger. Herr Beast
Absolutely NOT!....89 TD and 83 turnovers??? and you want this person why??????http://espn.go.com/n...6/david-garrardWell Chris Redman has 21 TD and 25 turnovers. We are talking about a backup QB here and if Garrard is 100% healthy, he is easily in the top 5 as a backup QB in the league and the experience in Koetters offense comes as a huge bonus. INDFalcon
Why as a backup QB. Make him the starter. That way we can easily transform Falcons to Faguars.
slamee101
At a cheap price I'd be all for it.
1989Fan
Honestly i think this is a very good, and possible, situation.Redman is terrible. This team score 42 on the bucs by halftime, and 3 in the second half with redman. And that was after their top cb was lost for the game.Garrard will want a comfortable situation to look good to be a starter again. Bring him in for a cheap 2 year deal and give up on redman and JPW. ol'_dirty2
Not a bad idea as his days as a starter are clearly over. He'd be a solid backup for the right price.
ChessPlayer1
I'm not sure why Garrard as a back up QB would not be welcomed by Falcons fans. Redman had been stealing money for years.
Billy Ocean
David Garrard is overweight, has a chronic bad back and Crohn's disease.

triggerman.0
IF it were an open competition and David was healthy and inshape.he would take the 1 spot from ryanbut with his back blowed out and him probably a lil larry holmesish, nah its a bad ideawhen David was healthy he was a force to reckon with, however his window has closedif you really look at athletes even you sweat hogs, we all peak at different times.some in HS, some earlier, some in CFL and some in the NFL.david peaked in college and a bit in the pros and his window is closed.ryan, while im not sure he has better football ahead of him or not. peaked in rookie year, he has not digressed he just hasnt improved.i think between his senior season and his rookie year Matt was at his best.he is "still" at his best, but for how long and will that ever be enough is the question

Tootie Quivers
Garrard makes a lot of sense as the back up quarterback. The only hang up would be price, on our side, and he might get a better opportunity somewhere else. If it all falls into place, then I much rather have him behind Matt then Chris Redman.
