Eli Vs. Ryan Split Screen Video- Same Amount Of Time In The Pocket

Nobody is answering your question Darkflight because that would mean bringing up Ryan's athleticism. If you live in the Atlanta area and listened to sports radio they were roasting Ryan for being so inept in that category and why Oline is such a big issue to some on this board because Ryan is not good enough to make a play on his own.

I figured as much. We're going to need the best o-line in the league then...

Yes Ryan isn't the most mobile QB, that's why I think having Brat as the QBC was the worst move in a long time as Ryan still has work to do. That's another reason why I like the Koetter hire. He was a QB and can help Ryan's development.

But the film does not show any of the plays being run. Eli's plays could be a lot more aggressive getting guys open. I know for a fact most of Ryan's plays are crap plays

The rest was excuses but he needs to improve physically. He's maxed out right now in terms of the mental part of the game. If he improves physically and I mean IMPROVE like Brady did who knows. I doubt it but we will see.

In order to improve in pocket awarness and manipulation you must have some degee off consitency with the pocket forming first. I think the way the season started with matt getting pummeled really affected his play throughout. He literally had to protect himself and his career at points. Before this year i never saw matt duck before hits came so much. Typically he is among the bravest in the league when it comes to taking a lick when neccessary for a throw.

The protection won't always be perfect. It's up to Matt Ryan to step up and make a play. Scared, passive, pussified football won't cut it. Point, blank, period!

Since we all know pure pocket passers can't make it in this league.

You may be right. Maybe he took a hit in the chicago game that scared the crap out of him. But the line did get better as the season went on. There was no reason for him to be worried every play at the end of the season.

Eli camped out and cooked marshmellows and hot dogs over an open fire, put the fire out the next morning, woke up - and then completed the ball to Hakeem Nicks the next morning.

Eli had all freakin day in that Packers game - have never seen Matty Ice with that kind of time.

He didn't have that kind of time against the Falcons though. At least not when the game was in reach.

tell us what would have ryan do in that situation at 0:56 darkflight

The original point of the video was to show how Matt and Eli we're both under pressure in that game. At :56 there wasn't much he could do there. I just get tired of people saying "if only the line would block" when the truth is there are times when Matt is running from pressure that just isn't there. You see the split screen at :56 they both got pressured there. Eli was actually being wrapped up. He made a play. It got his team pumped up. I'm just hoping that Matt can start doing something like that in the near future. The good teams will get pressure. Sometimes a qb just has to make a play under that pressure. Should we just build the greatest oline in the history of the NFL and hope MAtt never gets in trouble?

Where is this Matt Ryan? He was much more confident and would pull the trigger without hesitation earlier in his career.

He's been coached out of all of his best abilities, by being in an MM offense, where making plays down the field is nothing, while playing safe with fear of comitting turnovers and taking what the defense gives you is everything..

Matt Ryan has shown me enough during his first couple of seasons, to give him more time under a better OC with a better and more aggresive system in place. Hopefully, that is Koetter.

I'm hoping the addition of a pass catching back that gets YAC will really open things up for Ryan. One thing this vid showed is that Turner is worthless in the passing game; couple that with a far from elite line everthing is vertical or diffilcult. Any chance MJD comes here? We trade Turner for him LOL I'm just kidding...sorta:0

Ahhh Vel...I knew your reasoning for Matt's lack improvisation would involve MM. I'm glad MM is gone. No more excuses for the players not executing. Of course now everyone will just blame Koetter if the players screw up again this season. I promise you if there are excessive drops, inaccurate passes, bad blocking, stupid penalties, and happy feet dances in the pocket we'll get the same results as we did this year.

Whats your excuse to our garbage O-line & no pass rush D-line ?

I think Ryan has culpability, as we saw in that Dungy video, he was more determined and even showed some mobility. It seems like something is not quite the same, it does not mean he is not capable. Now that we have a fresh start with the new OC and a new QB coach, maybe it will be time for them to tell him to stop thinking too much and being careful and just sling it. I believe Mularkey's coaching style and playcalling may have messed up with his head a little bit.

Even with that, he put up career numbers, so let's see what a fresh start does.

Coaching & playcalling will make 10% difference .......What about pathetic O-line ?

In this old video Tony Dungy was showing lack of blocking again ...What we did to address it ?

We will have 0 playoff wins again.

Yea, 2 biggest things to address this offseason, O-line, and how to get pressure on opposing QB.

everything else will fall into place after that

100% right on.

I will kill Ryan if we upgrade our O-line ( which means all pro shutdown LT ) & pro bowl guard and he can't win against playoff teams until then he is saving us from 7-9 team.
